Our Ajman Hotel Break Part 1

3rd July 2018, Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel, Ajman, United Arab Emirates.

My wife, @sherylneil, is pregnant with our second child which means that cannot travel. Therefore, we will be spending the long summer break in the very hot United Arab Emirates.

I am a teacher and school is out for 8 weeks. I am from England and my wife, @sherylneil, is from Philippines.

The summer temperatures start heading towards 45 degrees Celsius, but it is the warm winds and high humidity that can make it feel even hotter. Many people will leave for cooler climates during July and August.

What that does mean is that hotels are quieter and a chance to get a great last minute bargain. We decide to go to neighbouring emirate of Ajman. There is a long stretch of beach. I look for bargains and get tempted with a 5 star hotel with a massive price reduction. I book it and the next day we go.

I had booked a room with a city view. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that we could have a sea view at no extra cost. We were taken to the room. Then we see outside. A big wow to the view.

Not only a big wow from me, but also big smiles from my boy, Robbie. He is so happy. He just wants to jump on the bed. In fact, he has a massive abundance of energy all afternoon. Mummy needs a rest so I'll take Robbie to run around the corridors.

Around 4pm, we return to the hotel room. Robbie still has so much energy. He is happy and excited. We get ready then to go to the pool area outside. Before we make it outside, there is lots to see inside the hotel. Some fascinating Arabic architecture.

We will explore further tomorrow afternoon.

For now, we will take ourselves outside for a swim. There is a shaded mini pool for small children. Robbie is so happy to be in the water and splashing around.

We will then explore the rest of the outdoor area. We know that the sun will set in front of us around 7pm. A time to explore further around the complex. It is nice and having been in the water keeps everyone cool.

There is a chance for some meditation…..

There is a World Cup tent on a rooftop on the second floor. It has been decorated for the World Cup. England are playing Columbia later, 10pm UAE time.

Earlier, we see this display. “Who are you supporting?” Of course, we are supporting England. Let's just hope it doesn't go to penalties. England always lose on penalties.

Oh no, England are cruising, then disaster. England concede a late equaliser during injury time. The score is 1-1. It goes to extra time. No score. That means a penalty shootout.

England win on penalties. Yes. They will play against Sweden on Saturday in the quarter finals. It is 1.00am and I'm not going to sleep for a while.
