Jesus Christ Superstar Lyric Opera Chicago
I just saw Jesus Christ Superstar at the Lyric Opera in Chicago as a Mother's Day gift to my mom (short hair) and my aunt joined as well since this is also her favorite musical. It was a fantastic show!!! Conducted by Tom Deering and directed by Timothy Sheader ( source). They did an amazing job in both the music, the set and actors.

Heath Saunders was Jesus. Let me just say WOW! Him and Judas, played by Ryan Shaw, took over the show with their voices. Jo Lampert, who played Mary Magdalen, was another show stealer ( source).

If you've never heard of Jesus Christ Superstar, it's a rock opera created in 1970, about the death of Jesus Christ. It shows you his followers and his story of how he was sent to the cross.

This rock opera was created by Andrew Lloyd Weber, who wrote my favorite musical of all time The Phantom of the Opera and Tim Rice who wrote my other favorite musical Aida and also had a part in Beauty and the Beast and Lion King.

Heath Saunder put on a spectacular performance as Jesus. This is a huge role to play, both spiritually and vocally. He pulled both off perfectly.

Glad you had such a good time. Jesus Christ Superstar is one of my favorites also. I saw the show way back when and had the album and played it all of the time. I still love the music.
