  Nami Island,  in South Korea

Tucked 63 km from Seoul, South Korea is a little paradise known as Namiseom or Nami Island. The island is a perfect blend of culture, fun, and nature.

It is so picturesque that it is often used as a set for Korean-dramas and movies like Winter Sonata. Another thing about Nami Island is that it reinvents itself every season; depending on the season you visit Nami, you will be in for a different treat each time.

Locals and tourists alike flock to Nami Island making it a popular spot. Nami is more than a sight-seeing spot though, as it showcases a lot of incredible activities more active tourists can enjoy.

Gapyeong Ferry Wharf is your jump-off point in getting to Nami Island. Nami requires a special visa that you can buy for 13,000 won or $11. The visa already includes the round-trip fare and Nami Island’s entrance fee.

There are multiple ways to get to Gapyeong Wharf. For faster travel times, you can take the ITX-Cheongchun from Yongsan to Gapyeong Station. ITX fares to Gapyeong will cost you 4,900 won or for non-assigned seats and 5,200 won for assigned seats or approximately $5 - $6. Another option is via a 95-minute trip via subway from Yongsan Station to Sangbong, and from Sangbong to Gapyeong via the Gyeonchun Line for 2.350 won or $3.

Once in Gapyeong, you can take the Gapyeong City Bus and for an all-day pass of 6,000 won or $6, you can explore other parts of the county. The most convenient option though is taking a shuttle bus provided by different tour operators. There are usually three main pick-up points you can choose and they are in areas that are very accessible in Seoul. Shuttle bus tours also include visits to other popular locations like Garden of the Morning Calm and Petite France.

If you come in spring, you may be able to catch the cherry blossoms in their delicate bloom. In summer, the island turns to verdant green. Autumn brings the shades of fall into Nami while winter turns the island into an all-white spectacle.

You can explore the whole breadth of Nami if you give yourself enough time. Don’t miss several spots that will surely take your breath away. The Central Korean Pine Tree Lane cuts through the length of Nami Island’s center. This spot is so picturesque and each season will give you a different lens to marvel at. Next is the Gingko Tree Lane. Feast your eyes in the many colors of the trees during fall.

You can choose to go west and you explore other spots but if you have more time, cut through Cornel Tree Lane to see the eastern part like Lover’s Woods, Reed Woods, Tulip Tree, and the Cheollipo Magnolias. As you make your way back to Nami Wharf, stop by Gongsaengwon Garden and Metasequioa Lane.

Don’t be limited to just seeing the spots in Nami Island though. Visit the shops and restaurants and do the many water activities. It’s going to be a treat.

I have been to Namiseom a couple times before, it is very relaxing and scenic if you avoid the weekends or school holidays. Most of the areas near the rivers in Korea are excellent. It's fun and unique for each of the four seasons, so I recommend a visit during all of them if possible.

Omg! I've always imagined going and living in such a place, I've fallen in love with this place, I had complete ignorance about it, I think I'll look for more information about it, it has captivated me, thank you very much for making it known, Asia has wonder, it's a phenomenal continent is very rich in culture, landscape and diversity, hopefully GOD gives me the joy of stepping on it some day.

thank you very much for your comment Venezolanisima ....

For your images of snow, walking and people cycling, you can see that there are activities to have fun at each time of the year. I am fascinated by the photograph of the trees with this waste of yellow color up to the floor.
