Famously called the “Spur of Italy”, this idyllic national park is located in Foggia, in Italy’s southern region of Apulia.

Wonders of Nature   

Set in more than 120 thousand hectares of land, the Gargano National Park is one of Italy’s biggest national parks. It’s surrounded by lush green mountains and turquoise water, where visitors can choose between exploring the mountains and the sea for a one of a kind adventure with nature. 

Visitors can also take part in a host of exciting activities, such as horseback riding, biking, and sailing.

           The stunning colors of Gargano tend to change every season and every moment of the year would be a perfect time to visit this beautiful place. However, if you want to experience the park during its most fascinating moment, you can visit between the months of May and June, where temperatures are high and nature is in full bloom. 

Unlike the other travel destinations in Europe, the park is totally unspoilt and this means that there are only a few tourists visiting so your journey will be more authentic.

Exploring the Town of Peschici   

            Gargano National Park is also home to the charming town of Peschici. Walking through the cobblestone streets and maze of alleyways of this lovely historic town, you’ll be passing through a village with houses that slope down to the bay with their distinctive white façades.

Peschici is also home to some of southern Italy’s famous attractions, such as the Torre del Ponte or the Bridge Tower and the Norman Castle.   This sleepy fishing town is also rich in history. It has an ancient cave and it’s where you will find one of the most ancient abbeys of Italy, the Abbazia di Santa Maria di Càlena, and Madonna di Loreto's Sanctuary. According to legend, these structures were built by a group of fishermen after having survived a devastating shipwreck.

Savor the Finest Southern Italian Dishes   

After taking part in some activities at the Gargano National Park and after a long walk of the Peschici, the best way to cap your day is to indulge in the most delicious Southern Italian delicacies at one of the finest restaurants in Gargano. 

You can feast on a snail soup, and the traditional orecchiette pasta, which is made of fava beans and pancetta. Of course, your meal will come complete with a serving of the finest local wine.
