My trip around Balkans 4th stop Belgrade Serbia

Hi Dear Stemmit community,

My trip around Balkans continue by bus from Sofia Bulgaria to Belgrade Serbia. My arrival was in the late afternoon the battery of my phone was dead and I had to find the way for my accomodation. Fortunately I had hard copy of my booking
and direction from the bus station asking people around I found the way.

In early evening I went to center look lively with many people walking around Knez Mihailova street the core of the city. It is told that the nightlife in Beograd is pretty famous according to some pubblications I did not experience that much because I was tired.

The day after started my discovering of old city and Belgrade has obviously something to show. The example of Orthodox cathedral St.Sava temple. Built between XII and XIII century it is one of the largest in all Balkans penisula.

The interior has stunning paintings and it looks very elegant.

From the cathedral I moved to the museum dedicated to the famous scientists Nikola Tesla. Originally born in Croatia from a Serbian family, during his life moved to United States. Important was his contribute to the electrical development.

Also one of his contributions was in Niagara Falls between Canada and Usa.

Furthermore his inventions were but not only included in his transformer, lighting works, x-ray reaserch, remote control and trasmission of concentrate particle beams and contribute to the radio tecnologies.

Inside the musuem a guide in English or in Serbian provide a further detailled explanation about his history, and show some example of his experiments and inventions.

My visiting of the city continue to the way towards the St.Mark church, another Ortodox religious building built 1940.
Inside there are some Iconostasis, some paints and a crypt.

Maybe I am boring but I like visiting churches and museums. As matter of fact the next I am going to write is the National museum which preserves some evidence of first settlement in the Serbia around 400.000 years ago, the Paleolithic,Mesolithic, Neolithic eras, the period under Roman Empire.

Also in the ground floor two rooms locked dedicated to the numismatics.

In the first floor is dedicated to the Early Medieval Period and its heritage and Serbian art from 18th to 19th centuries.

The second floor is dedicated to the European art from 14th to 20th century and the Serbian art in 19th century.

Later I walked around the center and I approach some souvenir stand some with local clothes as well. I just stopped by to buy some magnets.

Then I headed to the fortress and see around its wall close the Danube river. These wall should be dated around the 12th century.

I came back to my accomodation to relax and then during have my dinner and drink some beer in Knez Mihalova street. After going out had began raining fortunately I brought an umbrella. The center was not full of people like the previous night, but still enjoyable even if it was raining. I went to an area of bars situated around Cetinjiska street. It was approximately midnight when I came back to my accomodation. It stopped raining and alone I walked through what seems dangerous but honestly I found completely safe.

I did not have any problem on the way back to my accomodation (actually I have never had in any of my trips).
It is not a large museum it has mostly object, clothes, flags, stamps. The former Yugoslavia during the second world war, and the period under Tito its lifelong president.

Closeby there is the house of flower were the president and his wife were buried. It was included in the ticket for the entrance into the museum.

Furthermore I would share with you some photos of what I found not far from my accomodation.
Few builidings which were bombarded during the war in 1990's a person who was born in Belgrade told me that were partially destroyed but they decided to leave in such way as witness of the war.

Also not far from my accomodation I found a supermarket in which I found what should be an atm of bitcoin and litecoin.
