Visit to Cahuita National ParksteemCreated with Sketch.

Hi friends,

Yesterday before leaving the southern Caribbean to San Jose, we stopped by the Cahuita National Park. As it is common in the Caribbean you will never know if its going to rain or not. We woke up at 7 am and it was raining. We got our stuff ready and pack. We had breakfast and thank Peter for the Bungalow we stayed in for 2 nights. We drove from Puerto Viejo to Cahuita which is like 1 hour drive and then we arrived at the park.

As you can see in the picture it was a cloudy morning and we were happy that it was not raining and it was not hot either. Last time I visited the park it was a beautiful sunny morning and then it rained about 2pm.

We were able to see those stunning calendar picture beaches without people that usually invite people to travel to Costa Rica. We started the hiking trail which is pretty easy and has everything ready for people with special needs so I highly recommend this park. It is park of the Costa Rican government effort called universal trails which incorporate many facilities and access for everyone.

Not the best GIF ever but I wanted to share the trail and show how close the beach is from it. Walking we had 2 surprises, the first one made some tourists scared and yelled and then run away from it. It is a small and hard to watch snake.

The guide that was giving the tour to the scared tourists was explaining that it is the major predator to hummingbirds until he realized he was alone

Next to the pick-nick area we found a masked bandit trying to steal some goods from the unaware tourists.

Running away from cameras.

Because of the humid conditions and high chance of rain the nature is very different from other areas of the country, it is called tropical rain forest and it also has parts of wetlands and mangrove. Wildlife is very fascinating and with a lot of diversity.

Hiding in a tree was this crab eating wood of a branch that fell because of recent storms. Everyhing here lets life grow and keep the forest healthy, a tree that feel clears up the forest roof for newer and smaller trees to grow.

I love to see this little guys growing, when they are big enough they provide one of the best shadows you can find near the beach, their branches are very helpful to hang things and you can even climb the bigger ones.

If you are not tired the view you get is beautiful and totally pays of your efforts.

Thanks for reading.
