Kuala Lumpur - The Capital of Malaysia - A Pictorial Adventure!
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
A few years ago, long before kids, we decided to do a tour of some South East Asia countries. The first country we decided to visit was a Malaysia.
As we had decided to only spend a few days in Malaysia, we stayed close to the airport and caught the train from the airport into Kuala Lumpur, approximately an hour travel time.
Petronas Twin Towers
Petronas is the national oil company of Malaysia and owns the Petronas Twin Towers. This building was completed in 1996 and was the tallest building in the world until 2004.

Kuala Lumpur Tower
The Kuala Lumpur Tower is the 7th tallest freestanding tower in the world. At 421 metres, its observation deck gives great views of the city and beyond. In September 1994, the tower was completed and started broadcasting telecommunication signals.

Shopping in Kuala Lumpur
Shopping in Kuala Lumpur is fantastic. There are many locations where you get some bargains or access high-end stores also.
Other Interesting Points
During our travels around the city, we encountered many beggars asking for money for one reason or another. On one such occasion, a monk asked us for some money and sold us a ‘hand-woven’ souvenir. It turns out that this ‘souvenir’ was a fake reproduction. Beware of the scammers and people begging for money on the streets of the city.
Here is the monk! (Or is he a monk!)
Another interesting fact is the city isn’t open for business until late mid-morning. Most places were not open until around 11am, however, they were open much later into the evening.
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is a vibrant and interesting city where different cultures and religions mix in culturally diverse city. I would definitely recommend a visit to this city.
Thank for the reminder. Yes I loved my visit to KL. A 3-day weekend trip. The airport is certainly far away for sure. Highlights for me were dining on the helilounge (scary), street food and visiting the Batu caves.
Sad points were the incredible air pollution from the burning in Indonesia. Visibility was severely limited. And, outside KL you can see the palm tree cultivation that contributes to the problems.

Great post Scotty.
Beautiful Photography
I am from Malaysia but my hometown is Sarawak which located at the Island of Borneo. The Petronas Twin Towers is certainly an iconic building. If you ever come back to Malaysia, do remember to visit Sarawak as well. I also loved traveling and just got back from Moscow. You can check it out here.
