INTERESTING HOW KIDS HELP IN A HUGE FARM TO PLANT GMELINA TREE

in #travel6 years ago

Hi there steemians!
It’s another Wednesday morning here and still the sky is dark and we still have constant rain fall due to low pressure. Today I’m going to share some of my experiences during our last visit to our friend’s farm in Bukidnon. I met these two lively and happy children helping filling up the black plastic bags with GMELINA seedlings.

GMELINA is one of the source for lumber to make furniture, houses and other wooden products. It will take 5 years to take care of this tree before you can harvest and earn money.

As I observed them, they didn’t really have an idea how long they would be there and how much they will earn. They were just having fun and wanted to help their parents. There are 25 thousand of these tree seedlings to be planted and the location in the land is now ready to accept them. The hole is about 31 cm deep. The owner(which is our friend) hired workers to dig the dirt.

There is a specific height of Gmelina trees which determines when it will be ready to plant.

At the moment I don’t know exactly what the price of gmelina trees is here in the Philippines but it’s quite more expensive compared to falcata trees.

This ditch here is part of the irrigation system for the rice field which is just a meter away from gmelina plantation. Since the rainy season has started I expect the water flow to increase and sometimes it will overflow according to the workers but not cause damage to the other plants.

These are just my feet ready to get dirty. I enjoying strolling in the farm. At least now I knew what to bring next time since it’s rainy season. Boots 👢 perfect!

That’s all for now steemians! Thank you so much for stopping by.

I personally thanks @surpassinggoogle for his kindness and support for this community.

How fun that the children love helping with the work! Interesting post, my friend! Tip!

Yes I so love watching the children having their hands dirty in helping the farm. They don’t have any electronic gadgets as what most city children has. Thank you @melinda010100.

Sounds like a great way to raise children!

Definitely yes!healthy environment.

Cool post as always :)) Was just wondering that those pictures were probably taken in portrait mode and u posted them in landscape or? Cuz they are a bit hard to look at. I'd personaly just rotate them 90degrees and post 2 of them next to each other in portrait mode. You can do it with:

Love ur posts :)

Thank you so much @matkodurko. Actually just lately i’ve noticed it will become landscape. Honestly I’m having hard time to fix it. That’s why I left it that way. Thanks again.

Thank you @tipu. I been following her long time.

'Gmelina trees'This name is very new to me, on the other hand, the process of planting is dependent on economic purposes but it's a Forestry plan. They are making sound natural sources. I am very excited about this post.

Thank you as always @kunani. Gmelina tree is common here in Philippines. It’s quiet expensive at the moment.

Ogo..., in our country, sandal, red and teak are very costly trees.
