I am back from a business trip to Boston (once again), here a view of the Charles river at evening.

zurück von einem Trip nach Boston (wieder einmal), hier ein abendlicher Blick auf den Charles River.

Again too little time to see a lot - this time we went to Quincy Market, a vibrant part near downtown with life music on the street and lots of good stuff to eat and buy. Of course Oyster bars are a must here!
Wieder gab es viel zu wenig Zeit, sich was anzuschauen, diesmal waren wir in Quincy Market, einem lebendigen Teil der Stadt Nähe downtown mit Strassenmusik, gutem Essen und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Austernbars sind hier Pflicht!

Coming from Vienna where they are a common tourist attraction (called "Fiaker"), I wasn´t prepared to see horse-drawn carriages here.
In Wien sind Pferdekutschen (sog. "Fiaker") Alltag, aber auch hier gab es welche.

Also surprising, a small shop selling Russian dolls or Matryoshka dolls (learn more about them here.
Ebenfalls überraschend, dass hier auch Matrjoschkas/Babuschkas verkauft werden.

Just one block offside the tourist routes, you can see the typical US back-street feeling, where the Hollywood heroes are typically cornered.
Nur einen Strassenblock abseits der Touristenwege kann man das typische Hintergassenfeeling erleben, wo die Hollywood-Helden meist in Sackgassen laufen.

Accidentally there were MIT graduation celebrations. You could see many "grads" with their proud families.
Zufälligerweise waren gerade die MIT Graduierungsfeiern. Man konnte viele Absolventen mit ihren stolzen Familien sehen.

Close to Quincy Market we stumbled over a place calling itself the "oldest tavern in America", from 1795. Regardless if this is correct or not, I can´t resist to refer you to a recent post about one of the oldest taverns in Vienna, existing since 1350 😊.
In der Nähe von Quincy Market sahen wir "die älteste Taverne in Amerika", aus 1795. Nun, egal ob das korrekt ist oder nicht, kann ich nicht widerstehen, Euch auf einen Beitrag über eines der ältesten Gasthäuser Wiens hinzuweisen, das seit 1350 existiert 😊.

App. 15km outside of Boston, near Lexington there are still forests which are almost untouched (apart from hiking trails). It is called Lexington Conservation Land. I could go there briefly - it was an oasis of peace in the midst of the craziness.
Ca. 15km ausserhalb von Boston, in der Nähe von Lexington, gibt es noch (bis auf Wanderwege) unberührte Waldbereiche, genannt Lexington Naturschutzgebiet. Ich hatte kurz Gelegenheit, dort zu spazieren- eine Oase des Friedens inmitten der Verrücktheit.

The flight back via Toronto was delayed and we were redirected, but nearly missed our backup connection flight as well. At least there was a chance to have a terrific view over downtown Toronto!
Der Rückflug (via Toronto) war verspätet und wir wurden umgeleitet, aber auch unseren Ersatz-Anschlussflug hätten wir fast verpasst. Zumindest gab es eine grandiose Aussicht auf Toronto!
