Japan - Tokyo - Okinawa | My travel report: Okinawa - Okinawa-Churaumi-Aquarium, the cooling down

in #travel6 years ago

Hallo Steemians,

Two years ago I was in Japan with my family for 14 days. My in-laws were there, too. My father-in-law comes from Russia and did his military service in Vladivostok, since then he dreams of visiting Japan. For him, it was a long dream come true. And for us it was such a nice experience that we definitely want to go there again. Already for the reason that we only looked at Tokyo, a little surrounding area and Okinawa, the country has so much more to offer. It is very clean and really beautiful, the Japanese are friendly and very disciplined and I would like to bring you closer to a small series of different places we have visited there and wish you a lot of fun.

All pictures are of course clickable and will be enlarged.

Foreword

Today is the 10th day of our Japan trip, now attentive readers of my Japan travel report will ask themselves, stop where is number nine. Just because we are on Okinawa and there are wonderful beaches like in the lastreport, we spent yesterday completely on the beach and simply enjoyed the relaxation. But today I can already say that the superlatives hit us like a punch in the face. We will visit the Okinawa-Churaumi Aquarium. A huge aquarium with the largest saltwater basin in the world. Currently the world's third largest aquarium, only the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta and the Dubai Aquarium in the mall at the foot of the Burj Khalifa are larger. But the most spectacular is yet to come, here you can see the world's biggest fish, the whale shark. Three of these really beautiful specimens can be seen in the main pool. She was born there and the oldest of them is now 14 years old. Approx. 70% of all animals living there have been bred especially in the aquarium. And now I wish you a lot of fun with the pictures and my execution.

Okinawa-Churaumi-Aquarium, the cooling down

Okinawa-Churaumi-Aquarium

It was a really hot day when we left for the aquarium. Our accommodation was only about 30 minutes away, so we didn't have to get up too early. Once there, one notices the spacious entrance area. We were during the week from there the visitor rush has kept within limits.

The spacious entrance area includes escalators, a water feature and great plant sculptures.

Right after the beautiful entrance with the star of the aquarium, there is a highlight for the kids, the feel basin in which not dangerous sea dwellers may be touched. But of course a guide looks over your shoulder. And right afterwards you can see these nasty sea fleas that like to nibble on you when you meet them in the wild.

After a few more beautiful pools with coral inhabitants, jellyfish and also animals that live on the beach like this crisp crab slowly goes towards the main pool.

As we turn around the next corner it literally takes our breath away, the aquarium pane of the main tank is really gigantic and its inhabitants even more so. Besides the beautiful whale sharks, there are also mantas and eagle rays.

In the wider area of the aquarium, however, the attractions do not stop, here you can admire various species of these in the large shark tank.

The whole area here is only about sharks, one may touch the different bits, but must be very careful because even in this condition they are still extremely sharp. A really great highlight for me was the Megalodon set of teeth which was replicated because of the 4 real teeth that were found and also exhibited here.

Passing the eagle ray and the main basin again, we enter the darker area with all its night fish, crabs and giant squids.

We have left the main building and are on our way to the Dolphin Show, where a little killer whale is the real star of the show.

Last but not least we looked at the turtles and the manates or manatees, really very gentle creatures.

Here in the air-conditioned exit area you can recharge your batteries and take a nice picture from above. A model shows here again the dimensions of the plant. And as always in Okinawa there is also here at the sea a really great beach which can be visited.

At the end of this impressive day and the unbelievable heat we were exposed to, at least outdoors, we deserved a cooling on the beach. I am happy if you have managed to follow the travelogue up to here and be there again if it goes to Naha the capital of Okinawa, there will visit among other things a conclusion.
