The Grand Bazaar // Pasar Besar Istanbul

I think this will be my first #marketfriday posting. Hosted by @dswigle, this tag has been around for months and I could never really participate as my idea of shopping is always hit and run 🤣 You know when you are shopping with little ones, gotta hurry or you will leave the shop totally bankrupt 😅 Stupidly I realized that I actually taken many pictures that are market related, and could have participated to this "gathering" much much earlier. But you know, when you have little ones, your brain sorts of evaporated 😝

Anyhoo 🦉🦉🦉🦉

Let me take you to a famous market in Turkey, which I bet you can guess it right away!

Never once crossed my mind to visit Turkey, to be honest. I grew up in two tropical countries, so my idea of holidays are somewhere that are not too hot nor too humid. But thanks to my parents, I ended up visiting Turkey 😁

My parents own a travel company and they offer a guided tour as well. So they said let's meet up in Turkey as their tour was heading that way. Sadly a couple of days before we left for Turkey, their tour did not get approved for visa on time 🤣

So yeah, in Turkey I was, and obviously one gotta visit the famous market, right? The Grand Bazaar.

This market is quite similar to many markets in Indonesia. You can find various things for the kitchen, household, pantry, toy room, and walk-in closet. Yep, from arts, clothing, foods, utensils, furnitures, school stuffs and toys, you name it, you might just find it at The Grand Bazaar.

The Grand Bazaar is definitely tourists destination when they are in Turkey, and I guess majority who visit are from neighboring European countries and from Russia it seems, as many of the signs at vendors are written in Russian, which is pretty unique to find out. But of course, there are signs in English as well.

Some vendors willing to bargain, but many are with fixed prices, and some more would charge you at least 1 USD should you like to take a picture or two of their goodies.

There are many knock-offs perfumes, watches, and handbags offered at The Grand Bazaar, made me giggled in a way or two 😁

Jalan-jalan yuk. Belanja sampai bangkrut yuk. Tapi karena kita sama2 ga ada duit, jalan2nya lewat Steemit aja yah 😉

Beberapa tahun silam kami ada jalan2 ke Turki dan tentunya karena daerah turis yang terkenal oleh para turis adalah The Grand Bazaar, jadi kami yah kesana juga.

Isinya sih ga jauh beda dengar pasar2 di Indonesia, segala macam bisa ditemukan di The Grand Bazaar, dari pakaian, alat rumah tangga, keperluan sekolah, suvenir, makanan dll. Bedanya, pasarnya bersih, ga becek, dan teratur.

Tapiiii, banyak juga loh yang jual barang ecek-ecek, misalnya parfum palsu, tas merek terkenal yang juga palsu, dan bahkan jam tangan palsu 🤣

Kita juga bisa main tawar-menawar di pedagang tertentu, meski rata-rata sudah harga pas. Beberapa penjual bahkan mematok harga seumpama kita mau foto-foto dagangan mereka, jadi terkadang tidak bisa sembarangan ambil foto 😁
