My Balkan-Roadtrip 2018: The final 600km and my conclusion [EN/DE]

Hey guys! I have returned home after the last 600km long stage from Novi Sad back to Austria. After I had chosen the route via Croatia on my first leg to Niš, this time I decided to take the route via Hungary of about the same length. This turned out to be a big mistake on the Hungarian-Serbian border. I had to wait almost two hours on my way to Hungary. I can understand that, despite the large crowds, strict controls are being carried out, but for what I have no understanding at all: Why then is the capacity of the border crossing not at least fully used?

Hallo Leute! Ich bin nach der letzten 600km langen Etappe von Novi Sad zurück nach Österreich, wieder in der Heimat angekommen. Nachdem ich bei meiner Anfangsetappe nach Niš die Route über Kroatien gewählt hatte, entschied ich mich diesmal für die ungefähr gleich lange Strecke über Ungarn. Dies sollte sich an der ungarisch-serbischen Grenze als großer Fehler herausstellen. Ich musste bei der Einreise nach Ungarn fast zwei Stunden warten. Ich kann ja nachvollziehen, dass trotz großen Andrangs genaue Kontrollen durchgeführt werden, wofür ich allerdings überhaupt kein Verständnis habe: Warum wird dann nicht zumindest die Kapazität des Grenzübergangs voll ausgelastet?

Well, at least my trip home went absolutely smoothly and I arrived right at sunset. My conclusion after 12 exciting days and about 2.300km: It was really a great adventure and I would like to start the next road trip again. But first I continue with a journey that has less to do with exploring and taking pictures. I'm spending a sporty, long weekend with friends on the Croatian coast starting on Thursday. It is a tennis training camp. If there is the possibility to explore something in the surroundings of the training facility, I will still be happy to tell you about it however.

Naja, zumindest verlief meine Heimreise danach absolut problemlos und ich kam pünktlich zum Sonnenuntergang zuhause an. Mein Fazit nach 12 aufregenden Tagen und ca. 2.300km: Es war wirklich ein tolles Abenteuer und ich würde am liebsten gleich wieder den nächsten Roadtrip starten. Zunächst geht es bei mir aber mit einer Reise weiter, die weniger mit Erkunden und Fotografieren zu tun hat. Verbringe ab Donnerstag ein sportliches, verlängertes Wochenende mit Freunden an der kroatischen Küste. Es handelt sich um ein Tennis Trainingslager. Falls sich nebenbei mal die Möglichkeit bietet, etwas in der Umgebung der Trainingsanlage zu erkunden, werde ich euch aber trotzdem gerne davon berichten.

Nevertheless, I will continue next week in my usual travel style with a trip to Kazakhstan. I am looking forward to telling you about my experiences in this exciting country. I have only received positive feedback from you about my postings directly on site during my raodtrip and would like to continue reporting in this style. I noticed that my articles were interesting for you, even though I was forced by the short-term nature to use only phone snapshots in my posts.

Nichtsdestotrotz geht es bei mir aber schon nächste Woche in meinem gewohnten Reisestil weiter und zwar mit einem Trip nach Kasachstan. Ich freue mich bereits, euch von meinen Erfahrungen in diesem spannenden Land berichten zu dürfen. Ich habe von euch ausschließlich positives Feedback zu meinen Beiträgen direkt vor Ort, während meines Raodtrips bekommen und möchte euch deshalb in diesem Stil auch weiterhin berichten. Ich habe gemerkt, dass meine Artikel für euch interessant waren, auch wenn ich durch die Kurzfristigkeit gezwungen war, ausschließlichHandy-Schnappschüsse in meinen Posts zu verwenden.

As proof that I still focus on my photography and have not only walked around with my mobile phone, I will show you the first photographic results of my trip to the Balkans tomorrow.
