The royal palace in the forest. Bulgaria

Since Bulgaria has a king, and the tsar has children, they all need somewhere to live. Well, when they come to Bulgaria for a vacation :-) I'm kidding. I do not know for what reasons they visit the country whose kings are, but the fact that they do not live here permanently is a fact. Nevertheless, they have residences.

One of these residences is called Tsarská Bystrica and is located just above the ski resort of Borovets, which until the middle of the last century was called Chamkoria. Both names, and Chamkoria and Borovets, mean one - a coniferous forest. The resort is in a very beautiful coniferous forest among the pines of the sea.

Chamkoria began to be built around 1896, where land was distributed to important Sofiyans under their dachas. The land was rented for 99 years. All the old buildings are made in Alpine style and very beautiful. It's a pity that not everything is in good condition.

Tsarská Bystrica

The forest residence stands on the river Bistrica Musalenskaya - hence the name of the palace Tsarská Bystrica. The residence was built in 1898 as a hunting lodge for Ferdinand I. After 16 years, the hunting house turned into a forest palace with beautiful bedrooms, boudoir houses and offices. It is said that now in Tsarist Bistrita, the princess Kalina and her son sometimes live, and King Simeon II himself lives in another suburban palace of Vran.

Previously, this residence was full of tourists. You could see the inner chambers, still operating German fireplaces and other interesting things. Now you can only walk around the territory in strictly allotted days and time by buying tickets.

The palace was nationalized in 1945 and belonged to the state until 1989, and after restitution it was returned to the owners.

In the former barn (or is it a stable?) In 2013, an exhibition of works by graduates of the National Art Gallery was organized.

All the pictures were taken at the end of November. I have no general plans for the palace, because it is large, around the forest, and that day was vague. So I could not make it so that the building could be seen entirely.

This power generator "Siemens" was manufactured in 1912. Once it supplied electricity to the entire resort of Chamkoria, and today it is only the royal residence.

On the territory of Tsarskoy Bystrica there is a small new church named after Ivan Rilsky, in which they baptized the son of Princess Kalina, although she herself is a Catholic.
