'The Shortest Funicular In The World'

crta.png

The city of Zagreb owns the shortest funicular in the world. The entire track is exactly 66 meters long what makes one use it for fun more than anything else. Unless you are really old and cannot walk or you are a tourist in need of bragging rights. Taking the funicular when you could've walked the distance is an event, after all!

Be it as may, it's running in its original form for over a hundred years. This is due to the serious daily inspections of five men, whose only job is to take the little stairs up and down and check on the funicular's integrity before they go for a pint. In a country, where working for the administration is a highly-sought job, no wonder the government needs to create a bunch of useless jobs in order to stay in power.

Oh, lucky me, the brave men are here! I am so happy to be able to testify of the hard labour undertaken for the benefit of the entire population. I overheard that everything seems to be in perfect condition and that it is safe for people to transport themselves over the shortest distance in the world.

There is also an advanced digital ticketing system. Unfortunately, it probably fails to deliver so often that the two additional people were employed, both in the bottom and the top booth of this astonishing enterprise.

The security is on seriously a high level. This resulted in great statistics. In a century-long tradition, no passenger was ever hurt. Even if it was, I'm sure it was swiftly put under the rug. What kind of people would we be if we let a single drunkard destroy the perfect numbers? I want to take another picture but I am quickly removed because the funicular is about to launch. Safety first! It's almost like a space program.

Aren't we lucky?

Enjoy your day! :D

Lol @velimir, that absurd structure :). Yet I bet that many use it only to be able to say there have been!

I once read about the city, as the capital of Croatia, Zagreb is a beautiful city rich in historical relics. Ancient parks, lakes and buildings became the pride of the friendly city dwellers.

This city will hypnotize anyone who sets foot on the green landscape. In Gornji grad, you can visit the famous Old Town Gate with his Mother Mary painting.

One part of the bridge, namely Kamenita vrata, worth thousands of important candles. Locals believe, if you declare the candle, then the wish will come true. The painting of the Virgin Mary itself is sacred, since it is the only thing that survives the flames that devoured the bridge centuries ago. As a reflection of the Croatian Country, Zagreb is a city with a dominant green landscape.

Take your foot to Maksimir Park, Zagreb's largest park that is adorned by small lakes. Breathe the fresh air with the smell of the grass of the mind. In addition to Maksimir Park, there are also some other parks that can be used as a picnic or relax in the afternoon. The beauty of the city of Zagreb did not end there. Imagine, this city has two lakes at once! Lake Jarun which is located in the south of the city becomes a favorite place of recreation of local residents.

In addition, there is also Lake Bundek which hosted various summer performances, including art festivals, music, fireworks, and horticulture. The city on the back of Mount Medvednica, Zagreb has a special place to close your day. His name is Medvedgrad, a fortress located at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level.

Formerly, this fort was built to commemorate the Croatian soldiers who are on the battlefield. But now, tourists are deliberately ready for hours, or mountain bikes to set foot there before dusk. Because at dusk is overlooked, the most impressive panorama of the City of Zagreb will be lost by the moon.

Ikuti saya,, saya akan ikuti anda

an amazing funicular in a picturesque place. I like that in your country there are a lot of beautiful things and buildings from the last century.
Whatever you say about the government, everything will be compared in comparison. By the way, it's better to have a lot of useless jobs and provide people with work than not to have no jobs at all.
But it looks ridiculous. 5 adult men of "courageous" men provided a check. Their work is very important and very difficult .. ahah :)
Almost like a space program :) Today is a day of sarcasm. Thanks for the positive

Wow!
Interesting information.
Yes, you are right, those who can't walk due to old age, it is like a blessing.
And for those two who comes here to visit, don't know much about the city.Funicular could be a fun for them.
Especially it is something that kids might like so much :)
Thanks for sharing it with us :)

I enjoyed scrolling down and seeing each new part of your adventure...almost like I went on the walk with you! Keep up the great work! Beautiful travel photos!!@upvoted

Hehe, didn't have even an idea that this can be the shortest funicular in the world ( and that is the capital city of my country, maybe is better that I stay quiet) XD Anyway, nice story Velimir, there's always something to learn from you!

Nisi znao,a ?
E pa je! Najkraća na svijetu hehehe
Piše ti gore u kućici :P

Nisam znao ;) Ne brini, niti prvi niti zadnji!

A zadnji put kada sam se vozio tamo bilo je prije 25 god, a rodio sam se prije 27 :D Triba doc posjetiti Bijeli Grad uskoro...

Ahahahahaha! Bureaucracy at it's absolute finest! I'll sleep better tonight knowing that the people of Zagreb are protected so carefully.

I'm glad you remained safe at the launch. It's important.

Hahahaha this little cute thing has more bouncers than a big, exclusive night club :D
This must make this experience even funnier and more interesting :D
I would definately try it, alone for the bureaucratic madness and the view :D <3

Thank you very much for sharing, I had a good laugh :D

Have a great day and be blessed dear :)

We would totally ride this just for the notoriety. There is actually something similar to this in Quebec City. It takes you up the side of the hill from Old Quebec to the Chateaux Frontenac. We rode on it just because we could.

Man your travel diaries are amazing. Literally loved it. Following you since i joined steemit.Nicely described with awesome photos.@upvote and resteem
