Motorcycle travel series by @velimir 'Zagorje 45' (Part #155)
I leave the small village's road behind and enter a proper one. The forest scent is immediately replaced with the smell of exhaust pipes. This is something one starts to pay attention to as soon as he learns to ride a motorcycle. When you drive a car, you have a total control of the air you breathe. On a motorcycle, not at all. As much as it is a blessing, it can also be a curse. The nature scents definitely come as a blessing but the carbon monoxide and dioxide from the buses or truck's black exhaust fumes may want you to stop breathing until it's gone. This is one of the reasons a motorcyclist will overtake you as soon as there is a fair chance.
My fuel isn't low as a beam by a gas station. However, my right eye catches a glimpse of this bunch having a fuel break. So, I take a U-turn and park.
I am attracted by the dirt on their quads and wonder where have they been riding them.
This might take hours to clean. Talking from my first-hand hand-on experience! :)
Huh, maybe they don't wash them afterwards, at all? :D
Check out the helmet. At least the face shield is almost clean... hahaha

Wow, thats an amazing ride that i will label an adventure. I can now understand why bikes try to overtake at the slightest point. At some point, I thought it was all fun and most likely the attributes of the riders compared to car drivers who are little skeptical in overtaking but waiting patiently until the time is right (not the careless ones, though).
As for the clean up, I guess they can afford to pay up for a cleaning and be ready for another sweet and fun ride. The pictures are amazing and it tickles for a personal ride. The experience cannot be fathomed by car drivers because its absolutely different when fresh air blows at your face and brandish your hair - good feeling.
I hope someone else can agree that its a stress killer as well and can be healthy to have a ride for a leisure.

Thanks for including us, allowing us to get a glimpse of what motorcycle travel can be like. Being a car rider never thought about the bad fumes. And these guys at the gas station looks like they play hard and don't mind getting really dirty. Love the pics @velimir
Great post and amazing "dirty" bikes:) I live in Maryland, and I ride through the downtown area and other congested streets to and from work every day. Often when I am at a stoplight, I am directly behind or next to several cars belching exhaust. I can't help but smell and inhale it. Sometimes I try to hold my breath, but I can't always hold it for long enough. It smells bad, and I do not wish to inhale carbon monoxide. Is there some great product out there, or maybe just some tips and tricks from you on how to avoid inhaling exhaust fumes while riding through heavily trafficked urban streets.

For tips, i would suggest you try being on the side away from the tailpipe. Get in front of the cars at the lights - don't queue in line with them. Take routes that are less car-congested, even though they may be longer. Nice post. Love your picture quality and angle taken.
It may also be reasonable to say that you are already avoiding more exhaust just by biking & not driving, other than that; take a less heavily trafficked route & otherwise don't worry about it.

@georgechuks I wouldn't go that far, but the evidence suggests that you're better off biking in the fumes than not biking. I'm more trying to suggest that if you know what you're trying to avoid it's easier to avoid. Otherwise you're left with holding your breath at random times, hoping that you damage yourself less by oxygen deprivation than you would by just breathing the fumes.
I just hold my breath :D not aware of any other means to avoid it :)
and yes, of course I go in front at the lights :) uninitiated car drivers think its rude, thesy have no clue how bad they smell hahaha

I am a big fan of motorcycle diaries tv series in our country. When i see your post i began to like your travel experiences driving a motorcycle, maybe because me too was into it couple of years now. Looking forward more post from you in the coming days @velimir:)
