Found us a new park. Ohio shale at Highbanks Metropark.

I've been off steemit for quite a while. Things have been very busy and I just haven't had the downtime to pay something good. I don't want to water people's time paying some half ass post just for the sake of posting.

I thought this would be kind of interesting. I don't know much about geology but I do know an enjoyable hike and when I have found something I want to take pictures of.

Recently I had the opportunity to hike the Dripping Rocks trail at Highbanks Metropark just north of Columbus Ohio. The hike takes you through the woods where you can find buckeye trees and some very large Sycamore trees. The highlight of the trail is, of course, the dripping rocks. Different parts of this area of Ohio have different layers of rock at the surface. In the following pictures you will see Ohio shale. It's very hard and water had trouble passing through it.

Apparently this shale was mud at the bottom of an ancient sea. If you find a rounded rock that seems different and it of place compared to the rest of the rocks it is a form of fossil. I'm not sure if any of what I found was that or not though. Please enjoy the pictures of the area that I took.
