Fantastic trip to Rome, Italy: part 17 (Roman Forum)

If you decide to visit Rome, you should definitely see the Roman Forum, it is one of the most impressive sights of the city. For each person the Rome evokes its own feelings. For someone it is just a city, absorbed by the ruins of ancient buildings, and for others, these ruins are real treasures that can tell a lot of interesting stories, therefore if you listen carefully, you can catch all beauty of this city!

Roman Forum: the heart of the Eternal City, center of ancient Rome, in the valley between the Capitoline, Palatine and Esquiline hills. Many centuries ago, even before the founding of Rome, this place were used by residents of nearby settlements for Burials.

At the time of the Roman Empire a special place was allocated for the Roman Forum in the center of the ancient city. The forum included square and buildings. A bit later the forum became a political place of Rome, there were people's congresses, Senate meetings, religious ceremonies.

Once upon a time this place was just a swampland, a little bit later this area was drained and prepared for construction. As a result, in the center of the city there was an area with trade rows and separate places for public performances. There were elections in the office and magistrates, speeches of orators, and courtroom proceedings.

During the redevelopment of the city in the II century BC, there were many temples around the square, also a network of roads was built, connected the central part of Rome with remote areas. During the reign of the Emperor Augustus, Roman Forum became the epicenter of the political, commercial, religious and social life of ancient Rome.
