Real Life Captured #114: Santiago Chile! Part Three (10 Photos with Travel Pro Captions!)

in #travel6 years ago

Hey there my Steemit friends! In this "Real Life Captured Series" I do my best to bring you exactly that; the real life captured from destinations all around the world! After eleven years of travel experience my favorite thing to do is walk around! That's right, I simply like to go to foreign countries and walk around. I observe (and now photograph) the people, food, culture, and way of everyday life and bring it to you in this "Real Life Captured Series".

In this Santiago Chile Series we are going to get a good idea of what's doin'! Santiago is unlike any city I've ever been to. Heck, it has what's been described as a "sandwich culture". The people are a mix of different indigenous tribes and Spanish genetics.

They have there own Chilean way of speaking Spanish. They have some of the best wine in the world. They have a pretty healthy economy too. In some parts of the city we feel like were are in highly organized first world country and in other parts we feel like we are in a back alley third world slum with endless graffiti and shady characters lurking around.

Santiago is a pretty unique and diverse place. They have a huge business district hosting the tallest building in south America with 64 floors! Just a short walk from the business area you can find people selling pot brownies among many things while hanging out in front of the art museum! Now come along and let's check this place out!

One reason I love this part of the world. Wal-Mart has not put this guy out of business.....yet! However Lider is a popular grocery store owned by Wal-Mart and there are three of them with-in walking distance of this stand. But here in Chile this guy has little to no overhead and his produce is half the price than what you'll pay at the supermarkets.

It not uncommon to see old building being renovated in this city. Sign of a good or growing economy.

This whole area was nothing but book stores. Reading and other leisure actives are popular in this part of the world.

Store front not needed; we're in South America!

Government buildings always seem to be a bit nicer everywhere on the planet.

Real Life Captured!

Real Life Captured Again! Easy does it there big guy!

This is true Downtown Chilean Coffee culture right here. Served out on the streets, standing room only!

This store repairs everything from hand bags to shoes. I had them repair my favorite shorts as a seem started to come undone. Still life left in them and they are hard to replace the big travel pockets!

Looks like it's the night shift for this street performer.

With over 11 years of travel experience I answer travel and international lifestyle questions. Leave a question in the comments and I may make a Steemit post just for you!

Wonderful selection of photographs @world-travel-pro. They really show a nice story of life in santiago.

Your caption for the guy with the plate glass gave me a chuckle too! 😁

Thank you Dan for these real life photos!I agree, it's more cheaper to buy fresh goods outside along the streets than in grocery stores, same here in my country.
Working night shift is just fine but working night shift with fire in the middle of the street is another story! I hope he receives a hazard pay bonus for the hard work.

Hahaha. I think the fire spinner did quite well compared to the others. Traveling around the world seems like I've now witnessed a million and one ways for people to make money. Some obviously better than others. But one thing is for sure, this guy has got talent!
