Travel Pro Art #47: Statues of Charles Bridge in Prague Czech Republic! Part One (11 photos)

in #travel5 years ago

Hey there my Steemit friends! In this Travel Pro Series we explore art from around the world! The past few years of travel I've really started to become a true fan of the arts. Since walking around is my favorite thing to do, street art probably is my favorite form of art to see! However we'll be exploring art museums, street performances, live music, traditional dance, even laser light shows in this Travel Pro Series!

Prague is the most beautiful city I have ever visited. That is quite a statement given the fact that I've traveled the world for well over a decade. The history combined with the fine care and detail of seemingly every inch of space in this immaculate city is really what makes this place special.

This set of photos are from the famous Charles Bridge. Which began construction in 1357 under the rule of King Charles the IV and was finished about 150 years later! It was the only way to cross the Vltava River until 1841.

What makes this bridge extra special are the dozens of incredible statues, all with a very mid-evil design. In fact most of Prague and the architecture here has a very mid-evil design; and it may very well be best displayed on this bridge.

Charles bridge is strictly a pedestrian bridge, so there are never vehicles only foot traffic. The bridge leads out near Old Town Square and heads over towards Prague Castle, the two big tourist sites in Prague. Being one of the most touristed cities in Europe, this bridge always has many people crossing it or simply just hanging out on it; and of course photographing it, like yours truly! Now come a long and let's have a look at the incredible statues lining the Charles Bridge in Prague, Czech Republic!

With over 12 years of travel experience I answer travel and international lifestyle questions. Leave a question in the comments and I may make a Steemit post just for you!
