Oh, the places we'll go ...

in #travelcouple6 years ago (edited)

Congrats to DL for finishing his work project in Japan last week! I am glad he had the opportunity to travel and work there (on/off for nearly the past two years). While I'm sure he has gained valuable insight into a new culture and work ethic, I am very much looking forward to this relationship being with LESS long distance! He's currently in Malaysia visiting family, and is due back next week. Just in time to reunite with my family, who will be flying from NYC to visit us for my birthday! Much to celebrate!

In light of these upcoming travels and reunions, I thought it would be fun to share some thoughts on the countries I've visited and why they're special to me. Enjoy!

Hong Kong - lived there for 6 months, essentially birthed this nomad life
Macau - think Vegas, but x100 + Benny Benassi pool party for $verycheapUSD
China - Beijing, Guangzhou - my family's humble roots!
Taiwan - Taipei - Jiufen mountain village and night markets obviously
Philippines - Cebu, Manila - island life is not one to complain about

Vietnam - Saigon - Mekong Delta/ CCTunnels almost as challenging as crossing streets
Cambodia - Phnom Peng - Angkor Wat is truly unparalleled, and so is the food!

- 2012 -

Bahamas - Nassau - discovered love for conch, reticence for resorts on spring break
Canada - Montreal - Osheaga Music Fest w/ fam in ponchos ready for rainy-good time
Costa Rica - Arenal voyage > Imperial hangovers. Samara beach bum.
Spain - Barcelona - life-changing hostel in the most vibrant, paella-filled city <3 <3 <3

- 2013 -

Portugal - Lisbon - most friendly, hilly, and cobble-y streets I've ever wandered

USA - Los Angeles. Nashville. San Francisco.
France - Paris - my favourite snobby, romantic city under the Eiffel lights

USA - ROAD TRIP TO THE SOUTH - Needs its own post ;)
USA - Chicago (deep dish is just... fine)
Ireland- Dublin - keep my Guinness stew warm as I go on funniest walking tour ever
