Paris, Paris, Paris...

Paris, Paris, Paris ...

The most famous in Paris for years is probably the Eiffel Tower.
Visitors to Paris will certainly come across the building consciously or unconsciously, after all, it is the landmark of France.

The Eiffel Tower is called in French "La Tour Eiffel" and is a 324 m high Eisenfachwerkturm in the heart of Paris. It should be noted that it is located in the 7th arrondissement at the northwest end of the Champ de Mars (Mars field), very close to the Seine.
This building, which was built from 1887 to 1889, was intended as a monumental entrance portal and lookout tower for the World's Fair to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution.

It was named after the builder Gustave Eiffel and at the time of construction it was only 312m high, yet it was from its construction until the completion of the Chrysler Building in 1930 in New York the tallest structure in the world.

The structure has also been useful in the history of film and television, as the Eiffel Tower was also used to broadcast the first public radio program in 1921 in Europe and the first French television program in 1935, at the time as the radio and television broadcasting tower served.

The Eiffel Tower is the tallest structure in Paris, and this monument still dominates the cityscape, and with around seven million paying visitors, it is one of the world's most visited landmarks every year.

It can be said that the tower is one of the most famous icons of architecture and engineering. The Eiffel Tower is even the model of several imitation buildings and is often mentioned in art and culture in connection with Paris and France.

Since 1964, the Eiffel Tower has been listed as a monument historique, and in 1986 the American Society of Civil Engineers included the building in the list of historic milestones in civil engineering.

With human progress and the technical possibilities of industrialization came at that time also ideas and inspirations to create tall buildings. At that time, special attention was paid to tower structures that met the zeitgeist of the time.

Already in 1833, the Englishman Richard Trevithick had the idea of a 1000 feet (ie 304.80 meters) high, supported by as well as 1000 columns cast-iron column with the diameter of 30 m at the base and 3.60 m at the top to build. However, Mr. Trevithick died shortly after the publication of his novel plans.

The American engineers Thomas Curtis Clarke and David Reeves took up his idea again and wanted to build such a building (Centennial Tower) for the world exhibition in the year 1876 in Philadelphia.
But nothing came of that in the end.

In 1881, the French engineer Amédée Sébillot returned from an American trip with the idea of illuminating the entire city of Paris with a kind of beacon on a so-called "sun tower".
But even this was just an idea that was not implemented in the end.

Only Gustave Eiffel's plans were implemented as we can see until today and therefore enjoyable and the Eiffel Tower as it is until the present time.

At night, this is wonderful to look at. During the day it seems less spectacular and sometimes even disappears in the mass of everyday life.
A visit, this landmark is always.
