Permian rocks on the South river

I would like to tell you about a steep bank on the South River. About Sukhona river I wrote, about the Northern Dvina river I wrote too, but about the South river has not yet told.

The banks of the South are mostly low, with sandy shallows, fields, and willow thickets. There are almost no steep shores.
There is one such bank near the village of Karasvovo in Veliky Ustyug district of the Vologda region. Nearby we fished, as I told in the previous post.

This beach is very steep and sandy. Every year, water undermines it and thereby takes a part of the land with trees along with it.

And at the top is a beautiful pine forest...which the river gradually devours.

If you fall from such a bank down, there is a chance to survive, as the soil is sandy...but you will not be able to get to the top again.

The steep bank has a length of just over a kilometer and at the very beginning there is a piece of the Permian rocks. Look at the photo above: you can see how the composition of the shore is different in the distance - this is Perm.

This is probably the only such place all along the South River. And in the water opposite this place is a rocky threshold. All converges! Straight, as in Opoki.

Here it is, beautiful shore!

Sandy soil is much more likely to be destroyed, and the riverbed here is changing before our eyes.

And a tiny creature, such as a man, can not do anything about it. We are only temporary users of the Earth...

...and prone to self-destruction.
