Hi Folks,

What's up? It's all Soul's Day and for those unfamiliar with the tradition it's the day where we remember the dead loved ones with a visit to their graves with floral and candles.Because I can't be home for the holidays since I just had a few days off in South Korea I remember them with a visit to a Japanese restaurant IMG_20181101_145238.jpg

Yes ,I had always said Japanese food is my comfort food in many of my blogs but after a few visit to the night market in Dongdaemon I am not sure of this anymore. Yes this present gastronomic experience made me feel better from my several days of body malaise and hypermotile stomach. I suppose food in general has a way of soothing what ills you by their texture, aroma ,taste or it's appearance upon serving. IMG_20181029_171128.jpg

what I found impressive about this place other than it being cheaper elsewhere and orderly? The variety of food and drinks you can choose from cooked under your nose in steel cabinets is a show to behold. There is nothing like it elsewhere where you can interact with the cook herself and capture the delight of the customer as they dig into the food. Even the sheer exhaustion of the sellers are beautifully captured in this street. After seeing them toil despite the freezing temperature I understood then and there how South Korea dig itself out of its pit after the many wars it had been in.

I bet some of them at family recipes passed on from generation to generation while others are novelty. From the looks of it Korea mastered the techniques in capitalizing on its unique traditions to attract investors and tourist alike. Do you even know they have a place where you can learn the art of kimchi making? So popular was it in many Korean telenovela that even Pinoy like me purchase it despite being pricey for their spicy fermented taste and it's supposedly anti cancer effects.

IN this market you'd get a glimpse of the Korean culture. Yes everyone wants profit but in top of that the foods here are excellently prepared as well. So one can say Koreans are mindful of quality always. And unlike other similar places elsewhere here there is a feeling your safe from pickpocketers thanks to the many CCTV around the place. And because they operate a certain time on the street they had to CLAYGO also. This latter I was most impressed because when we passed here on some other day at much later time the place was squeaky clean a far cry from the usual streetvendors I have seen. Yes you don't get seated and there is a good chance you'll be in a street packed of people but hey do give it a try. Afterall, if you get to taste this foods and burn them too as well with walking so what's there to fear? Every thing in this place is so picture worthy. See how we had a blast FB_IMG_1540810089965.jpg

Though the night market is my favorite do try their streetfood just the same when you can as it supports industrious enterpreneours who with all do these yummy food items with so much gusto than just beg or do crimes. Just take with you though a anti histamine just in case you're allergic to some herbs or spices you've never been exposed to yet.

So on this holiday where we gather as family may we remember with each bite the happy memories we share with our loved ones. May their memories live on with the recipes we to others. May those every spoonful take you to a wonderful timeline and leave you more content ,happy and grateful of the life that was with our departed onesIMG_20180624_141040.jpg
