Mysterious places of Madrid and province: the castle of La Coracera
Although located in the foothills of Madrid, already bordering on that ancient arévaca land, which is the community of Ávila, San Martín de Valdeiglesias is a focus of first magnitude, for all lovers of mystery and adventure in general.
Much more than the mysterious ruins of what was once one of the most powerful monasteries, the urban center of San Martín de Valdeiglesias is frequently visited by hundreds of curious who come, as attracted by a powerful magnet, to that object of reverence and fear, it has always been his castle.
And speaking of castles, it is not difficult to imagine in them, a multitude of stories and legends, where the presence of the Evil One and the unfortunate episodes lived between its ancient walls, have made them places specially enabled for all kinds of occurrences, mysteries and gossip.
Possibly this is the so-called Castle of the Coracera, one of the most enchanted and worst known of all those melancholic fortresses, whose presence gave precisely the name to Castilla. It is considered valid, the assumption that it was commanded to build, back in the fifteenth century, by Don Álvaro de Luna, who was Condestable of Castile and valid of King Juan II, subsequently executed, they say that in the smell of innocence, in the Plaza Mayor of Valladolid.
And among its illustrious guests, it is known that Queen Isabel de Castilla stayed in her rooms, after the famous Guisando Firm.
But the worst of his fame, that which kept the neighbors of San Martín de Valdeiglesias in suspense, began in 1978, when the castle was acquired by a modern Marquis de Sade - the neighbors say - a certain Juan from Gaza - or from Ganza, as it also appears in some modern chronicles - rich real estate speculator, whose hobbies, it seems, drifted to the satanic side of Occultism, including orgies after the black masses in honor of the Devil, as those mentioned by the French writer JK Huysmans in his famous novel ‘Lá-Bàs’ (Down there).
Certain or not all the talk about the activities of this character, who also believed the reincarnation of a brutal feudal lord, as he claimed, dropping by the people on the back of his horse, truthful, after all, is that the castle was always reputed to be possessed by the Devil and the dramatic end of this eccentric character - he was found dead, with a shot in the head - did not contribute, but to increase a black legend that seems to weigh on the spirits of those who they approach to visit it, even maintaining a prudential distance.
And another unfortunate historical fact related to him: during the Spanish Civil War, the sadly famous German Condor Legion was hosted, the same one that reduced the Biscay people of Guernika to ashes.

Bet?. I have very little luck with betting. I am not very much in favor of monetary speculation. Also, to this day, I still haven't taken advantage of my remnant. Let's say I am gathering it little by little for my retirement.
