Photographic series about the Colombian Caribbean: a magical place called Bocas de CenizasteemCreated with Sketch.

Barranquilla is a city located in the north of Colombia, it is a city of cheerful and friendly people. The
The city is bathed by the waters of the Magdalena River in the east and by the waters of the Caribbean Sea in the north.

Barranquilla is recognized nationally and internationally by the famous Carnival of Barranquilla, which
It was recognized as Cultural Heritage of the Nation by the National Congress of Colombia
in 2001. The Barranquilla Carnival was also declared a Humanity Heritage
by Unesco's declaration in 2003.

Few people in Colombia or even within the city of Barranquilla, know any alternative of
different tourism to the famous carnival of this city. But in the far north of the city
There is a hidden little paradise, almost invisible to everyone. This may be due to the fact that in order to arrive
until that place, it is necessary to cross through the neighborhood called Las Flores, a neighborhood that in the past
It was cataloged as a place of high danger, not recommended to visit.

However, today there is an increase in the number of visitors, since security has
increased and communities have organized to provide tourism services, which include
guided walks, talks, restaurant services and boat rides among others. Today I want to tell you a little about
This place, a place that for me, is a true paradise amidst the chaos of the city.

In Barranquilla there is a small corner hidden, unknown by many, that small place is called Bocas de Ceniza. It is a really amazing place with spectacular landscapes and despite being a relatively small place, it has a very varied flower and fauna.

Bocas de Ceniza is the name given to the point where the Magdalena River delivers its waters to the Caribbean Sea. To get to that place, it is necessary to go through an artificial cutwater that is approximately 12 km long. The route can be done walking or in a small train that runs through the cutwater.

When crossing the cutwater, we can see a great variety of flowers and insects.

Bocas de Ceniza is a privileged place for the observation of migratory and native birds.

In this place, even pets have a special charm.

It is common to see fishermen along the entire route, as well as small wooden houses on either side of that small strip of land, in which the fishermen spend the night.

Another tourist attraction of Bocas de Ceniza, is simply to see the boats navigate the Magdalena River or in the Caribbean Sea..

If you dare to walk to the end of the route, you will see the exact point where the river meets the sea.

Exact place where the waters of the Magdalena River mix with the waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Reaching the end of this adventure, is usually rewarded with the opportunity to observe beautiful sunsets.

If you want to live a different tourist experience, away from the noise and pollution of the big city, do not hesitate to come to Bocas de Ceniza.

All the photos were made by me with a Sony A77 camera.

Thank you so much

¡Wow!

Abrazos.
