Share My World: Water Walk
One of the best projects that was happening at the camp was the water project. This was a project that was being implemented by the people at MERC (the camp we were staying at) for the local community.
Here is a look at the water walk we went on to learn more about the project.
Up on the top part of the property stood a newly built water tower. It was a frequent place to hang out and see sunsets.
Here George is telling the group about the bore hole that was recently dug and will supply the water to the tower to then be distributed to the surrounding community.
Here is the view from the top of the water tower looking out onto the camp, the community and in the distance that land of the Maasai Mara reserve.
George and Charles took us on a water walk of line B. If you want to know more about the people that worked at the camp see my post People of Kenya: My Kenyan Family.
There are two lines that are going to be supplying water to the community. Here Charles is telling the group about the water trough that is going to supply the animals, both domestic and wild, as the trough is located right next to the reserve.

What a blessings it is going to be to have clean accessible water, especially for the women that have to carry the water.

One of my favorite parts of the trip came next as the community members invited us to their village and welcomed us with singing and dancing.

The beautiful, colorful cloth they are wearing is called a shuka. The Colors of Kenya were something I didn't expect and it was such a treat.
The kindness of the Maasai people was such a important and memorable part of my time in Kenya.

I always get mixed feelings when I see images like these ones.
First of all, I want to applaud you're doing. Something s basic and wasted in other lattitudes, such as water, should not be scarce anywhere. It is a blessing that there are people willing to leave the confort of their homes to try to help others in need.
I wish we did not have to see a poor Africa anymore. I wish all the rich people in the world could use a tiny fraction of what they waste in things they don't need in vital projects to make life more bearable in these place. I obviously wish African governments were more commited to service and peace.
The images are great and it is always good to be in contact with other cultures, walk their walk, share their experience.
Thank you. I updated the post to make it more clear that the water project was a project of the local people (Meitamei, George, Charles and others) for the local people and that we just got to see what was happening for the project. Yes, all people should have access to clean water and that is why this project and the people that it is going to help was so impactful to my experience while on the Mara.

Out of all the posts comes across in steemit, this is the one with probably some real life on it. At the time of global warming era every drop of water is precious and in between we used to see the struggles of people to get even one cup of water. So it is really a happy feeling to read that you are among a group who really working for changing the lives of many people. In fact there is no bigger deal than this.

Thank you. I agree that water is precious. The water project is being implemented by the people at the MERC and we just got to go on the walk and see the progress of the project and meet the people in the nearby community.
Thanks for the reply. Shall I ask what is MERC, and in what type of official category you people are? whatever it may be happy to know you people are trying to make a change to the people. It is quite a great thing to be precise
