Travel Adventure #10 | THAILAND | Soi Dog Foundation & Shopping
Welcome to Episode 10 of our Thailand Travel Adventure!
It's bittersweet but this will be the last episode of our Thailand adventures (for now at least). We will definitely be back to explore the rest of Thailand one day.
Our last 2 days were relatively laid back and relaxing. Lazy days filled with food, massages, more food, some shopping and soaking up the last days of our holiday. Read all about our activities!
Soi Dog Foundation
We spent most of our second last day visiting a wonderful non-for-profit charity organisation, Soi Dog Foundation, that was founded in Phuket in 2003 to help street dogs (and some cats) in Thailand. It was relatively far and off the beaten track but we were greeted by a lovely team of Dog lovers that spend everyday spaying street dogs to prevent an overpopulation of homeless dogs.
They continually rescue, vaccinate, shelter and help street dogs get adopted into loving families to give better lives to as many of the street dogs of Thailand as possible. They also fight to end the dog meat trade and rescue, treat and rehabilitate sick and injured animals. Please read all about this amazing organisation on their website.
Soi Dog Foundation Information
Visiting hours:
Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 12.00 and again from 13.00 to 15.30.
Guided tours:
Tours run at 09.30, 11.00, 13.30, and 14.30 and do not have to be booked in advance.
The shelter is open on Saturday mornings for tours at 9.30 and 10.30.
The shelter is closed on Saturday afternoons and all day Sunday.

Shopping at Jungceylon
We spent a few hours shopping at the Jungceylon shopping centre in Patong and spent a little bit too much money buying things we didn't really need and buying last minute souveniers for our family and friends. We always get carried away but the greatest thing about this day was that I had the most amazing Tom Yum Noodle Soup! It was a very happy person after eating this dish. If only I could eat more!
Our Last Massage
We spoilt ourselves the morning that we were leaving Thailand with an amazing back and foot massage. The perfect way to wind down and relax before our 9 hour flight back home to Australia.
Thank you Phuket! Thailand, you've been a blast! We will be back to eat our way through Bangkok one day! Thank you Steemians for joining us on our Travel Adventures through Thailand.

As a dog lover I salute foundations that rescue and help dogs. Dog meat trade is an ugly thing we also have those here in our country. There are also foundations here who fights for what is right when it comes to dogs and other animals. That was a great stop in your travel and I love the photos btw.
Dog meat trade is definitely ugly but it's amazing to see an organisation like Soi Dog Foundation fight to end it. They have been very successful in Thailand and are working with other Asian countries that have less regulation surrounding animal welfare. Visiting the foundation was really great as we could see just how much this foundation has helped so many stray dogs. Happy to hear that Philipines also has organisations that are similar.

I'm happy there are organisations that help these poor dogs there. We support a similar one but in Korea.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting! So glad that my posts have found their way to you. It definitely makes it all worthwhile when someone enjoys reading them. I believe that Soi Dog Foundation is working with South Korea as well as a few other countries to end the dog meat trade.
The massage was definitely great. Very bittersweet though as it meant our holiday was drawing to a close. We definitely can't wait until our next holiday!
