A nudist beach and seafood picnic 天體灘 及石灘上的海鮮野餐

The Battle of Hastings is significant for English history as it signified the end of Anglo Saxon rule and the beginning of Norman rule by William the Conqueror in 1066. Today Hastings is a pleasant seaside town on the south of England and was the destination of my walk. My walk started at Camber sands, another popular beach resort west of Hastings some 20km away. We arrived quite early that morning and Michael, our our walk organizer arranged some beach games for us.

Camber Sands stretches out to about 5km of sandy beach, and has the longest sand dune in the area. On a busy day it can attract up to 30k tourists.
Camber Sands有一望無際長達5km的金黃色沙灘，還有當地最長的沙丘。

To be honest I can't remember much about the first part of this walk other than we were walking along the coastline. The fact I don't have much photos, probably meant the view wasn't as stunning as the other walks I went on.
遠足的前部分沒有什麼特別，但仍然有心曠神怡的海景。

However, there were two parts of the walk which I remember clearly from that day. In the early afternoon, Michael said we were going to take a detour down to a beach. So we left the main path, went through some bushes and followed Michael onto an obscured path.
中午過後Michael說要帶我們去一個小石灘。

We got to some steps and descended down towards beach called Fairlight Glen Beach. In fact it was a beautiful small quiet cove with lots of shingles, and many large boulders on both sides. There weren't many people around and I thought our march down seemed like we were conquering the beach like William the Conqueror did back in 1066!
我們一行人浩浩蕩蕩走到石灘上，感覺有點像當年征服者威廉征服黑斯廷斯的時候。

From these two photos, this may seem like just another normal beautiful cove, peaceful and calm and that's what I thought. Till I was wandering around, and came face to face with an old gentlemen walking towards me, wearing nothing but his back pack! And yes, I honestly mean ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING!! My first reaction was this poor man must be suffering from dementia. My mum had dementia in her old age and was very forgetful, not that she ever went out naked though! So I immediately sympathised with this guy and wish his family would be able to find him. Then as I walked further along, I saw another person in his birthday suit, and then it dawned on me! This was a nudist beach!!!!
從照片中石灘很平靜很美，似乎沒甚麼特別。 我往遠處走去拍照，突然迎面而來見到一位老伯伯。他身上除了背包外並沒有穿其他衣服!! 對，我是說他一絲不掛，完全沒穿衣服噢！ 我當時的反應是老伯伯很可憐，他一定是有老人癡呆症迷了路。 再往前走我又見到另一位人士同樣是一絲不掛。 這時我才發覺這個竟然是個裸體灘!

In fact, I accidentally captured a naturist in my photo above, and obviously I meant no disrespect as I honestly didn't know when I took the photo. You can't really see his face clearly even if you zoom in as he blends in quite well with the beach otherwise this would have to be my first NSFW post.
之後細心翻看我以上的照片，原來我也不覺意拍到一位裸體人士，但不留意根本看不見。否則看來我要發第一個 NSFW帖子。

And as we left this beach, we saw this sign. I love their subtlety, very English I must say.
離開石灘之前，見到這個告示牌。英國人真有 紳士風度 ，說話也特別含蓄。

After our little detour, we continued back to the real world, rejoined the main path along the coastline and headed towards Hastings, our destination.
之後我們繼續沿著海岸線向黑斯廷斯走。

After another hour or so we arrived at Hastings and went to hang around Rock a Nore Beach. The beach is nestled in front of the East Hill cliff. This area has been used for beaching boats for as long as people can remember, and one of the most interesting features here are these tall black huts which are called Net Shops. They were built to store fishing gear and nets and people think they were built so tall so the nets could be dried inside. In reality, they were built so tall due to lack of space!
大約一小時後，我們抵達黑斯廷斯的 Rock a Nore石灘。

Behind the Net Shops is the East Hill Funicular which opened in 1902. Did you know that this track has a gradient of 78% and is UK's steepest funicular? At only 81m, it's quite a short track, and each carriage carries 16 people only. I think the return journey is around GBP3 but we got there quite late so didn't have time to go on it. In fact I had something even better to do. Let me show you.
石灘後有一條自1902年已有的纜車。 而且你知道嗎? 這條纜車是全英國最抖的喔。 纜車全長只有81米，每卡車可載16位乘客，來回車費GBP3。但當時我有我比坐纜車更精彩的節目， 所以沒有去坐。

Picnic by the beach anyone? As a seafood lover, you have to try the local seafood when you go to a seaside town. A bunch of us found a seafood place further along the road. It was late Saturday afternoon and they were about to close for the weekend so of course were very happy to see us, but not as happy as us when we saw the mouth watering lobsters, dressed crabs, prawns and smoked salmon. We bought a few bagful of yummy seafood and even got them to throw in a few can of drinks free of charge.
愛好海鮮的我，到這個著名海邊市鎮當然不會錯過當地鮮美的海鮮。我跟幾位朋友買了不少小龍蝦， 螃蟹，鮮蝦及煙三文魚在沙石灘上野餐。

All this, plus a bagful of smoked salmon inside with white plastic bag for less then GBP100. I'd say that's a great way to round off the day.
老闆還送我們飲料，5人結帳不用GBP100。結果吃不完，還要外帶回家。爽!
