Where is the scandalous gold of the Thracians

in #travelp5 years ago (edited)

If someone does not know, Bulgaria occupies the territory where mysterious Thracians or Bulgarian trucks lived in BC. Mysterious, because no one can really tell where they are - most likely dissolved in the Roman Empire that swallowed them. There are a lot of interesting and beautiful objects left from these people, sometimes even strange ones - the Bulgarians still did not understand what these or those stone "Stonehenji" scattered around the country were intended for.

But the most scandalous heritage of the tracks is their gold. A lot of gold - beautiful craftsmanship, ranging from the second century BC.

All this beauty is stored in the largest and most protected museum in the country - the National Historical Museum in Sofia. Briefly just BAT. The National Historical Museum is located at the address: Boyana quarter on ul. "Vitoshko Pole" d.16.

NIM was established on May 5, 1973 by order of the Bureau of the Ministerial Council of the Republic of Bulgaria. The first exhibition was located in the Court of Justice in 1984.

Since April 15, 1998, the museum has been located in the former residence of Todor Zhivkov, the first secretary of the Bulgarian Communist Party of the Soviet period. Therefore, BAT is called the most protected museum in the country.

The greatest fame to the museum was brought by the Thracian treasures found on the territory of Bulgaria. These are gold coins, jewelery, dishes and armor.

The scandalousness of Thracian gold lies in the fact that there is a strong opinion that these are all fakes. Rumor has it that the "white bird of Bulgarian culture" Lyudmila Zhivkova, the Minister of Culture of Bulgaria (1975) and the daughter of the famous General Secretary, sold the originals to private collections abroad, and made copies for the museum.

I do not believe this, because, firstly, it does not fit with the personality of Lyudmila herself - not only did she not need anything, but she was simply not a greedy person, she had other spiritual guidelines in life; and secondly, they "prove" all this with a difference in weight. And I do not think this is proof for obvious reasons.

The museum has 11 rooms in which permanent exhibitions are exhibited, dated from pre-history to the Bulgarian Renaissance.

The museum's collection includes 650,000 cultural monuments from the Paleolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Middle Ages, numismatics, weapons, everyday objects, fine art, old printed materials, church utensils and icons, film photo archives, banners and heraldry, and much more.

Monuments of the Soviet era are exhibited in another museum - Socialist art.

These bowls date back to 383-359 BC. They belonged to the Thracian king Kotis I.

This jug is silver, but it is said to have been gilded.
