Travel Tip: Stribro, picturesque medieval town with amazing museum

Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.
Today, I will show you one of the most beautiful little towns of the country, the picturesque town of Stribro.

Located in the western part of the country, some 27 km (17 mi) outside of the city of Plzen (or Pilsen), the town of Stribro has a population of approximately 7,700 people.
Meaning "silver" in English (the town was a center of silver mining in medieval times), Stribro might have been founded as early as in 1131, making it one of the oldest Czech towns.
Boasting spectacular medieval architecture, the town is also home to Mestske Muzeum (Municipal Museum) that is focused on the history of silver mining, mineralogy, archaeology, natural science, ethnography and arts of the region, thus providing a unique insight into the history and culture of local people.

The town was besieged several times during its long history and in 1710, its population was badly devastated by plague. To commemorate this tragic event, a majestic plague column was erected in the town´s historic center.

This year we managed to see a few places from our bucket list, one of them was the Prague - Oh !!!, I love the Czech atmosphere. Greetings from Panama :)
