Botanical Garden Tours : #001 Quercus Robur : The Common Oak / Die Stiel-Eiche

Hello lovely Steemians !

I would like to welcome all of you to my first entry to the @botanicalgardentours. On my daily walk to university I have to walk through the botanical garden twice a day so I thought that it might be a nice idea to start a blog about it. I am planing to post another plant every day or every second day for you, depending on my free time. As it is @treetuesday I would like to start with the Quercus Robur, also called the common oak.

Ich möchte euch alle herzlich zu meinem ersten Post der @botanicalgardentours begrüßen. Auf meinem täglichen Weg zur Universität muss ich zweimal am Tag durch den Botanischen Garten laufen, deshalb dachte ich, dass es eine gute Idee sein könnte einen Blog darüber zu beginnen. Ich plane für euch jeden Tag oder jeden zweiten Tag eine andere Pflanze zu posten, abhängig von meiner freien Zeit. Da es @treetuesday ist, möchte ich mit dem Quercus Robur beginnen, auch die Stiel-Eiche genannt.

Quercus robur derives from the latin language and translates to quercus = oak + robur = strength, so it describes the really hard timber. The tree is common in whole europe and the western parts of the Caukasus and can reach up to 40m in hight. The tree sprouts from little acorns, which later grow on the trees. Those acorns are a valuable food source for little mammals such as the super cute squirrels and grow in pairs of five acorns at the tree. The tree has a really thick bark and it withstands even the greatest storms. Also its roots can find a way through every ground no matter how hard it is.

Quercus robur leitet sich aus dem lateinischen ab und bedeutet quercus = Eiche + robur = Stärke, und beschreibt das wirklich sehr harte Holz. Der Baum ist in ganz Europa und den westlichen Teilen des Kaukasus verbreitet und kann bis zu 40 m hoch werden. Der Baum sprießt aus kleinen Eicheln, die später auf den Bäumen wachsen. Diese Eicheln sind eine wertvolle Nahrungsquelle für kleine Säugetiere wie die supersüßen Eichhörnchen und wachsen paarweise zu fünf Eicheln am Baum. Der Baum hat eine wirklich dicke Rinde und hält selbst den größten Stürmen stand. Auch seine Wurzeln finden einen Weg durch jeden Boden, egal wie schwer es ist.
