Infrared Photography - Exploration of Wildcat Creek Campground

in #treetuesday5 years ago

As I got deeper in the forest, most of the sky was obscured by the trees above. It was the morning but still pretty dark in the dense forest. A few points on the trail I could see the morning sky, it had a golden yellow color to it. A stream was flowing through the area giving a break in the tree canopy so the sky can be seen.

These are my posts for #treetuesday

Ive fished on the the stream but noting has been caught yet. I did not see much life in the water though im sure its there. Maybe under the muddy silt there are fish.

Many kinds of trees growing in the area, some evergreen like the Pine trees and others will shed their leaves in the winter.

Along the trail there were wild ferns growing in large patches. An opening between them can be seen where people walk daily on the trail keeping them away.

Looking into the fern patch, its just one kind of plant growing. They really like the shaded cover of the trees, and flourish when other plants need to get above the tree canopy to survive. I captured an interesting lens flare as well, due the sunlight coming through the tree canopy.

Makingblocks.xyz/about

I take pictures with a special camera. Its a Mirrorless DSLR that has been modified by Life Pixel to see light in other wavelengths. This allows my camera to see light in the Infrared [IR] around 1300 NM wavelength, through the visual spectrum and into the Ultraviolet A and B wavelengths roughly into the 300 NM wavelength.

I carry many filters on me to make the photos you see in my blog, these filters screw on my lens and help me isolate certain wavelengths for certain scenes. These filters can be IR / UV pass-through filters to assist me get a natural photo taking out the UV and IR light. Or I may use a Infrared pass-through filter capture just IR light. I can do the same with UV light as well, though I need some better filters which they can cost a few hundred dollars for true Ultraviolet pass through filters. So for right now I have B + W 403 bandpass filters that still allow some IR light in, due to their cheaper material.

There are also exotic glasses made of sapphire and germanium I am open to working with to replace my silica glass hot mirror with a material that allows even longer wavelengths of infrared to enter my cameras sensor. Special sensors, lenses and filters of that material would be needed as well, so it would be a big project but one that may give some even more unique photography results.

Looks like a nice walk through the woods....
Can't do that here - we have impenetrable jungles!! :D And lots of biting bugs!!!

@ackhoo it was quite the nice walk. Oh yeah we got alot of biting bugs too, I use bug repellent made of plant essential oils. Works well when you reapply it every hour or so.

Love all of these, but especially like what the infrared does to the ferns. Resteeming.

@melinda010100 thanks alot for the resteem, I agree those ferns looked real cool. I spent a few minutes getting a bunch of photos of them when I passed by.

I loved the effect you used for the photos! They were really beautiful

@truelovemom thanks, I use screw on filters to get that look.
