Michael Rittstein (* September 17, 1949, Prague) is a Czech artist. He is one of the most prominent figures of expressive figural painting. He lives and works in Prague.
He is the father of sculptor Luke Rittstein, and Mikuláš "Miki-discjockey of Nicholas".
Between 1964 and 1968 he studied at the Hollar Academy of Fine Arts and from 1968 to 1974 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under the leadership of Arnošt Paderlík, where he has been head of the Painter's Studio III since 2001. He is a member of the art groups "12:15", "Late, But Still", "New Group" and "SVU Manes".
It is represented in numerous significant collections, National Gallery in Prague, Gallery Hl. the City of Prague, the Czech Museum of Fine Arts in Prague, the Memorial of the National Literature Prague, all regional galleries in the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Center Pompidou Paris, Albertinum Vienna, and private collections in the Czech Republic, Europe and the USA.
