To understand it a little more, here's Chris Wallace interviewing President Trump:

It starts at 2:20, and basically Wallace's thing here is that there's a difference between how Trump criticizes unfair media coverage vs. how other Presidents did it.

(As though all coverage is necessarily exactly the same?)

"no one liked their coverage, but they didn't call it the enemy of the American people"

It's funny, because it's not really controversial at all that FAKE news (any news that offers deliberately misleading narratives) should be thought of as a really horrible thing (or "enemy of the people", if you want to use those words).

Isn't that just clear and obvious? That if it's fake, then that's bad?

So if this Tweet matters, then what Wallace should care about is if indeed it's fake. What Trump bases it on, which specific people or stories he's referring to, etc. Hold him to defending the word choice.

But it's a total cuck move to skip over the accuracy of the statement, and just start saying you shouldn't say that.

What if he's calling it how it is?

So in Wallace's mind, if there truly are deliberately false narratives (perhaps a bit different than how Presidents are typically covered), Trump shouldn't recognize and talk about it.

I think what bothers people about Trump is that he doesn't mince words and will synthesize things down to the heart of it.

So when he's right it really stings.

Like, I think that's it, more than the content of his beliefs bother people.

His immigration policies for example I doubt vary that much from other conservatives. It's not like Mitt Romney or Marco Rubio or anyone would be in favor of illegal immigration or of not enforcing the border. (And building a wall, however boorish or not worth it that may be, if everyone agrees that the border should be enforced, is really just about finances and logistics. It doesn't change the general concept of not wanting there to be illegal immigration.)

The Romney types would just talk about it differently and coddle the people who disagree.

So then it's a vicious cycle, where the MSM if they're going to appeal to the emotional feelings of the average viewer will need to portray Trump in all sorts of sinister ways.

Because that helps rationalize the experience that the viewer is having.

So honey badger not wrong here. The MSM is portraying him in a wrong way, much different than what other Presidents faced, imo.

Trump uses the shield

The shield that I refer to previously.

He's not perfect. But way kinder than other politicians. Way kinder than Romney.

Most will coddle, and then everyone wants to eat 70% of the pizza.
