Pirates of Silicon Valley (TV special): Very informative - highly recommended
Have you ever wondered about how Windows and Apple came to be? For most of us I would imagine you are at least somewhat curious or you think you already know, right? Well this made for TV movie was actually extremely informative and is meant to be very factual in the information that is told.
I wouldn't say anyone in the movie is a particularly huge star but the people that are in it do a great job. Noah Wyle plays Steve Jobs and Anthony Michael Hall plays Bill Gates. There are other players in the performance but these are the two mains.
It is extremely interesting to see the amount of cutthroat activities that take place between these two and also how Microsoft basically stole a lot of its tech from people who didn't know what they had. Namely Xerox and some dude that wrote DOS (i feel particularly bad for the DOS guy.)
The movie is told in an interesting way because the people in the individual scenes will, on occasion, "leave" the scene they are in so that they can address the audience directly. This helps keep the story moving and also has sort of a documentary feel to it. I dunno. I thought it was effective and entertaining to see.
I was pretty universally praised by professional critics and even the people who the film portrays for the most part, didn't have anything bad to say about it such as Gates and Jobs. It was nominated for a bunch of awards and won a couple of them. Overall, great TV-movie.
Oh, yeah! I really liked this movie. I actually bring it up all the time when discussing the Jobs vs Gates rivalry.
I recommend it because it was filmed before Jobs received his Godlike status and was elevated to a level of hero worship by his zombie-like slew of mindless fanatics. What I mean to say is that the movie portrays him in a more balanced, reasonable way that was impossible to do once the iPhone launched.
I think if anything the movie was a bit harsh on Gates, but who knows. I wasn't there! But yeah, that DOS guy. I may have jumped off of a bridge if I were him.
I'm a big fan of this movie. Many people may actually not "get" this movie properly probably due to their ages, their unfamiliarity with the casts, or that they are generally indifferent to computers and stories revolving around them. On the hand, for me as a computer enthusiast, this movie is simply awesome! The roles were well-acted, and immensely entertaining. It really gave insights to how Apple started up. I also admired the machineries that made Bill Gates rich and famous. As a movie, it is true few plots were twisted for entertainment sake, however, it is very educative and entertaining. I'd recommend this movie to just anybody especially the computer geeks out there.
What discovery could give the world new Gates and Jobs? Does it exist in nature in general? In our age of general satiety and the cult of the golden calf, it is difficult to imagine similar things in common with Apple and Microsoft. According to pessimistic forecasts, people will rather destroy existing resources, not having enough desire to produce new ones. So it turns out or not - time will tell, but the importance of intelligence as the main driving force in society is unlikely to ever be challenged. Whatever the current circumstances, current trends and the world situation, and the human potential is far from exhausted, the more we can improve life practically to infinity. Instincts pioneers of the computer era were not deprived, but what would they cost without the inherent entrepreneurial vein and the desire to carry their achievements to the masses? Ironically, only Steve Jobs could rightly be considered an idealist, while Bill Gates's pragmatic beginning was born earlier than the romantic one. An excellent picture of Martyn Burke captures a tight braid, which at that time intertwined the relationship of information revolutionaries. Who and with what right felt himself more important - now no longer matters. Binary code in the history inscribed the names of both, as well as the names of pirate ships, reminiscent of themselves every time you turn on the monitor screen or display.
Thank's for such a good information
Just upvoted it.
