1971-72 Champions League season was the 17th version of this tournament. It was held between 19 August 1971 and 31 May 1972.

33 clubs competed in this tournament. 63 matches were played with 175 goals scored. An average of 2.78 goals per match.

Four clubs were able to reach semi-finals; Ajax, Internazionale, Benfica and Celtic.

The final game of the tournament was held in De Kuip, Rotterdam between Ajax and Internazionale. The dutch team was able to win the game 2-0 and clinch his second european champions league title.

Johan Cruyff from Ajax was the top goalscorer of the tournament with 5 goals scored.
