UEFA Champions League - Part 39

The 1993-94 Champions League was the 39th version of this tournament, and the second season where the name of the tournament was changed from “European Cup” to “UEFA Champions League”. It was held between 24 November 1993 and 27 April 1994.

42 clubs competed in the tournament. 75 matches were played with 217 goals scored. An average of 2.89 goals per match.

The final game of the tournament was held in Olympic Stadium, Athens, in 18 May 1994 between Barcelona and Milan. The Italian club was able to win the the final game 4-0. It was the 5th European title for the Italian giants.

“Ronald Koeman” from Barcelona and “Wynton Rufer” from Werder Bremen were named the top goalscorers of the tournament, scoring 8 goals each one of them in the 1993-94 UEFA Champions League.
