#ulog: My Daily Post! Mother's Heartache Knowing Her Kids are Infected by Infectious Disease

The love of a mother is different than flimsy affection it goes to extremes. She sacrifices her own security. Her love is sobering, making her feel serious and thoughful.

I just want to share with you the feelings I had during the time when my two kids are not feeling well due to infectious disease. As mothers it is not easy to see my children infected by disease especially chickenpox.

Chickenpox is an infectious disease causing a mild fever and a rash of itchy inflamed blisters. It is caused by the herpes zoster virus and mainly affects children, who are afterward usually immune.

It is also known as varicella, a highly contagious infection caused by the varicella zoster virus. It is uncomfortable, most people recover within 1-2 weeks. There is a blister-like rash, which first appears on the face and trunk, and then spreads throughout the body. Although is not a life-threatening but complications can arise at certain times.

Here are some key points about chickenpox. A diagnosis can normally be reached by observing the signs and symptoms. The hallmark symptom of chickenpox is a rash.

Before the rash appears, there will be:

1.) A general feeling of being unwell (malaise) fever, which is usually worse in adults than children

2.) Aching muscles

3.) Loss of appetite in some cases

4.) A feeling of nausea

After the rash appears, there will be:

1.) Rash - severity varies from a few spots to a rash that covers the whole body.

2.) Spots - the spots develop in clusters and generally appear on the face, limbs, chest, and stomach. They tend to be small, red, and itchy.

3.) Blisters - blisters can develop on the top of the spots. These can become very itchy.

4.) Clouding - within about 48 hours, the blisters cloud over and start drying out. A crust develops.

5.) Healing - within about 10 days, the crusts fall off on their own.

Few people have more severe symptoms. The skin around the spots or blisters becomes painful and red there are breathing difficulties. Most healthy individuals make a full recovery, as with a cold or flu, by resting and drinking plenty of fluids.

Knowing that my kids are infected by the infectious disease I was so anxious of what I am going to do with my kids but it ended up going to a doctor for their check up. Buying all the medicines they need inorder to prevent a rash of itchy inflamed blisters.

Now, I thank God Almighty that after a week of having medications they become healthy and well again. Glory to God!
