Happy Saturday!

Do you enjoy drinking coffee? Does it give you a relaxing feeling? How’s the aroma?

Well, I really do not drink coffee until 2 years ago. You can call me ignorant, but I never knew that there are also iced-coffee and frapuccino available until my friends brought me to Starbucks. Funny but true.

But this post is merely not about drinking Starbucks. It is about creating an artwork out of a coffee. It is not new to us, but this is my first time to do it. And take note, I’ll be doing it together with the LOCA or the League Of Cebu Artists and this is my first Art Jam with them. Great experience, huh!

I just knew about LOCA from my student who has been attending art jams and art sessions with the said community of artists. I got excited and I want also to join. I know how great it is to be with people who have the same interest with you.

The planned location was somewhere in Liloan but I had no idea where this community of artist would bring me exactly. From the meet-up place which was the church, we walked about 10 minutes. And reached this place.

The place was fun-filled. There were so many excursionists who enjoyed jumping/diving off the bridge to experience and enjoy the strong currents of water. Some of the artists would want to take a dip as well but we were here to do a live painting session using coffee as the medium. But since I enjoyed the fun activity, I didnt miss the opportunity to take photos and videos.

The good thing about this art jam was that the Administrators were very patient and generous to share their knowledge to us - newbies. They were very accomodating and welcoming as well. As a first timer who wants to know about how to use this medium, the lecture and discussion provided helped me a lot.

After his inputs, we headed to find a place where we would be comfortable to start our painting. I was nervous. I really have not tried using coffee in my artworks before. But, I sat down together with the other artists and started sketching to venture this new experience.

Like me, the other artists were also busy doing their sketches and painting. We had chosen different angles and perspectives. See and be amazed by them.

After everyone were through, we gathered again to have the group picture. Unfortunately, I had kept already my artwork inside my bag. But, look at their creations! Superb!

After this, the officers of the LOCA had announced some of the plans and future activities for the members. I am looking forward to all these and share it to you!
