ULOG: Don’t Make Your Work Harder!

in #ulog6 years ago

A minority group was hired by an engineer to a construction job in the city because these people were known to be hardworking people. They will do whatever work is at hand and won’t complain. Because of that reputation they were hired.

At around 11:30AM construction foreman who were supervising the site saw one of them siting on the floor already. He ask what happened to him. The worker replied “I can’t work anymore because I am hungry”. The foreman scratched his head and instructed the workers to stop what they are doing and have their lunch and he’ll be back at 1PM. When he returned from his own lunch break past one o’clock he saw again his workers sitting. He said “What are you doing its already one o’clock it’s time to work?” But the workers replied, “We can’t work we are still full”. When the work was over, they were all fired.

Nowadays people only cares on receiving profit, but doing less work. They want to get paid with less physical exertion. This is the main reason young generation wanted to be educated, thinking they can do lesser work and earn better. They are inspired with the rags-to-riches stories of the rich and famous. Least they know what hardwork they surpass before they reach their dreams.

Let me go back to the old ways of becoming successful in every work needed to be accomplished. Work is hard as the word implies. There is no such thing as easy work. When you are working it won’t be easy, so it is better to think that working is always difficult. However there are ways to make work looks simple and easy.

Repitition

You’ll always find doing things difficult especially when you are doing it for the first time. As you continously do it day-by-day your body becomes accustomed to what you always do. Your mind tends to memorize your action through repetitive muscular or mental activities.

Do you know how many shots did Michael Jordan missed before he was able to bury those crucial game winning shots. More than ten thousand shots. In the gym they practice shooting the basketball continously, to help their body and mind familiarize those routines. The winning shot may look easy but behind that shot was a repetitive exercise to make it perfect.

A carpeter can finish a cabinet in 2 hours without much effort because he’s been doing it for the last ten years. The work was already embedded to his mind and body. As others always say, “I can do it even my eyes close”.

Doing things repetitively making work easy.

Mastery

Be a master of your craft. Mastery is doing your work with excellence and perfection. Don’t settle for just finishing the job. Know your job by heart. Put a deeper dedication to what you are doing. Be more miticulous in dealing with the details of your work.

A master chef know the taste of the dish he cooked even without tasting it. He know how tender the meat, how the ingridients blend and how beautiful it will be presented on a plate. A musician knew the mistake even the almost unheard sound of his orchestra. His ears is a master of every notes and tunes his instruments and singers will create.

A master of his work makes work look easy to the ordinary but it took a lot of time and effort to happen.

Love and Dedication

Put your heart to your actions. Perform your work with highest level of dedication. Don’t do your job just for the sake of earning a profit. If profit will be your motivation, it won’t be a satisfying reward to your actions.

Do your work with love. A husband, work for the whole day because of his love for his wife and children. A wife do the household chores because of her love to her family. A child study well to make his/her parents proud. Perform your work by showing your love to your employer, because he gave you the job. A businessman give the best products and services because he loves his customers.

Always remember and I quote “Do everything in your capacity for the glory of the Lord”. Whatever we do, it will not be possible without God. He do his good works through us. When you perform your work always put in your mind that you are doing it because you love God! And when you succesfully done your job, always thank God. Thanks be to God. To God be all the glory!
