ULOG: I Just Finished Watching “The Flash” Season 4

When I was in High School (1984 – 1988), I used to watch Superman and Justice League cartoon series in the television. I grew up following the Superman Movie Series and until now I have a collection of those movies. I even have the Smallville complete series, it was a story of a teenage Superman.

From the maker of Smallville and Arrow, year 2014 when they started the series featuring the super hero “The Flash”, a forensic scientist who was struck by lightning and become a speedster. I had a complete collection of the series from season 1 to 4, and looking forward next year the season 5.
The main character is Barry Allen, who was struck by lightning generated from the explosion of particle accelerator. He was in coma for 9 months and was treated inside the STAR Labs under watch of Harrison Wells. The season 1 was a story of how this young man evolved to become a superhero of Central City. The main villain for season 1 is the Reverse Flash. In every episode there were Metahumans playing as villains. These metahumans like “The Flash” were result of the explosion of the particle accelerator. They possess skills and power but they chose to use it to do evil deeds.

Season 2, the story was much exciting with a new villain from another Earth, he was ZOOM. He wanted to become the only speedster alive. He was killing all the speedster from his Earth to this Earth. He brought in and out of breach more metahumans from Earth2 to Earth1. To beat Zoom, Falsh needed to go inside the “speed force” to regain his speed that Zoom stole from him.

Season 3, after defeating ZOOM, Flash went back in time and change the story of his life by creating a new world which was the “Flash Point”. Later on he realize he made a mistake of creating the flash point because he started to lose his memory. He went back to the real word by creating another point closely like what he left, but there were still difference that he can’t fix anymore. He created his main villain, “Savitar”. All metahumans from Flash Point were summoned by Alchemy, who was an ally of Savitar, to come to this Earth. Season 3 was the best season in my opinion. The story telling was great and the main villain was revealed that you won’t expect he’s the villain. After defeating Savitar, Flash was brought back inside the speed force leaving the team behind.

Season 4 was about mental games. The main villain Devoe was not a speedster, unlike the first three. Cisco called him “The Thinker”. He used his brain power and technology to suck the power of metas. These metas were created when Cisco force Barry out of the speed force. These metas were riding a bus when Cisco pulled Barry out. Devoe ruined Barry’s life up to the point where Barry was put into jail. The ending was not as good as the season 3, but surely there will be a season 5. A new character will be introduce from the future.

I enjoyed watching the series because the story was great and every episode leads to another until you reach the final episode of the season. The Flash was among the Justice League heroes I used to watch when I was young that’s why I know the character and it’s nice to see the series for 4 years now. The graphic effects were not unbelievable but it fits with what I expect. It was just enough to play with the story. The actor who portrayed it fits with the character he portrayed.

Overall, the series is a fun to watch. It brings values and characters every episode. It teaches people not to succumb to adversities and continue to live each day and solution to problem will come every time. In every situation, we are the heroes to our family, friends and especially to our kids.
