11th #Ulog 6/13/18: Y. O. L. T (You Only Live Twice)

"You only live twice.
Once when you're born and
Once you look death in the face. "

It was a haiku from the 11th James Bond novel series of Ian Fleming that used to be the very first novel that I've read and became my first ever favorite paperback two decades ago.

Having grandparents who were both teachers (obsessive readers in fact) and a grandfather who was a veteran during the WWII with the amorous ardor over subscribing western novels, Reader's Digest and other must -read magazines, I myself became engrossed in delving into these worlds that only books can offer.

Typically, it is often said to make most of our lives giving more than what we have, loving even when it pain us and smiling to the world no matter how silly things could be, 'coz of the underlying universal adage that YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE(YOLO).

My #Ulog for tonight is a matter of reflection who haughtily glared back at me. It's not the usual fun-filled dramas that we used to staged dramatically just to let a throng of audience flood likes it. It's beyond joy. Laughter. Happiness.

Quite the exact opposite.

Tears. Grief. Lamentation.

Today I am sorrowed to hear the news of a colleague who just departed. Everything was just taken so abruptly. That's how unfair the reaper is. Life may give us the opportunity to cherish all the good things at the topmost pyramid of life yet we will never know when our candles gonna be blown or will it somehow last.

He was a colleague who weighs a hundred and sixty seven kilos and was often murmuring of chest pains, high sugar and high blood readings.
He would often seat on our biometric area whenever we time in and out during noon time and would often cracked a joke or two yet to my astonishment, I would even laugh out loud no matter how silly the joke was.

T'was only a mere eight hours ago then when I opened a particular group chat that I learned the sad news. I was trying to blink back tears who were competing to reach my gaping mouth first. I don't believe it! He was there this afternoon. Patiently waiting for his turn and simply making obnoxious remarks for entertainment.

A heart failure. It was what concludes his earthly dwelling.

What will it be tomorrow then? Will it ever be the same for me? For us? For those who knew that he was actually covering all those pains through a facade that no one never dared to unmasked.

Nobody even bothered to asked, "Are you alright? " or perhaps just a simple, "How was it pal? ". If was ever done, we might somehow lessen the pain and burden that he was carrying. It never happened.... because we were a bunch of heartless insensitive fools who only got narcissistic goals. Self-love that is.

My heart's numbed and tired in pouring out a river, and this is it for now.

Living life to the fullest must not a selfish act.

Live your life to the fullest with,
Family.
Friends.
Colleagues.
Pets.

And ofcourse with,
the God Almighty.
