Ulog #14: A Filipino's Outstanding Traits #1: Eating Together

in #ulog6 years ago

It is common for us Filipinos to eat our meal together, It is very enjoyable that we are sharing our food to each other, talk random topics that making us laugh, and building our connections as a family even we're not really blood related at all.

Hi guys, it's my lunch time while I'm doing this @ulog of mine. We are always like this, eating together. Even some of us still doing something and can't afford to take a lunch, everyone of us would still wait for him or ask him to stop whatever that job and eat first. Eating is also like our bonding time, social affair.

I think this culture is mostly happening here in the Philippines, since we Filipinos really value the word Family. We choose to eat together whatever excuses or circumstances one has.

It's not like there's always special event happening for us to be together, our food doesn't need to be gourmet or special dishes. We just need everyone presence, one of us will start the topic, one of us always cracking some jokes that make everyone mood to be happy, some has to give opinions or talk whatever happened to him yesterday, simple as like that.

We treat every meal time (breakfast, lunch or dinner) as a short reunion, putting ourselves outside this toxic world even for a short period of time, strengthening our relationships and sharing important experiences about us.

Chicken Adobo, Pinakbet ( mix of vegetables ) and Sliced unripe mango with bagoong ( fermented salted tiny shrimps )

We do really love Rice, it is our main food in our every meal, then will be partner with our major meal or Ulam, sometimes with vegetable for additional nutrients ( HAHA LOL), also we always have our condiments or "sawsawan", it could be a banana ketchup, soy sauce, fish sauce with kalamansi, vinegar or just a salt.

as you see in my photo above, we have a complete set of meal for this day. AND we really value our food. My co-workers or even my family used to say that, "Huwag mong sayangin yung pagkain, maraming nagugutom." or don't waste your food coz' a lot of hungry people need that food

And of course after our meal, we will have our own Panghimagas (dessert)

Makapuno and Yema ( both Filipino Dessert )

We have this traits passed us from our ancestors, and we will pass this to our next generation. Giving importance eating together and valuing the food given by our God. Enjoying our blessing together whatever it is, small or big. A truly Filipino characteristics that I'm very proud say to you guys.

And so this is the end of my @ulog for this day. Hope you guys craved on what you saw we were eating AHAHAHA. 'Til next time again :)
