Ulog 25: On The Hunt For My Ker-Pow!
So today, I’m hunting for my mojo a little bit. I’ve had it pointed out to me that I’ve lost a little bit of my zest… my ker-pow… my nutty superpowers. Frankly, I stuck my bottom lip out a little bit, ready for a little sulk. After all, it’s been a complete bitch of a year personally… surely that’s excuse enough for being a little… jaded?
But when I really think about it, my sparkle has been dimming bit by bit for a couple of years now. I don’t know whether it’s getting older… or not being 100% cheery about the day-job… or having the usual little disappointments which can knock you back stack up just far enough that I’ve stopped believeing in magic.
Nah. That’s rubbish. I still believe in magic. 100%
And then it comes to me- as it always does at this point. Something trivial and funny… but something which always gets me in the same way. My hair is back to its natural colour again. For what feels like the millionth time since I was a teenager, I’ve just finished growing the red colouring out of my hair. See- told you it was trivial.
Yep – I had red hair. Sometimes a little gingery, sometimes darker and sometimes a real, vibrant red. And somehow, my behaviour always escalated to match my hair colour. I was brave and exuberant and silly and irreverent. At almost 6 feet tall, it’s very difficult for me to blend in at the best of times. With the red hair? Completely impossible. It served both as armour and a shot of emotional caffeine.
And now? Now I’m back to what someone once described as golden mouse. It’s not bad… it’s not really anything else either. And I feel like my personality has adjusted to match.
The secret, of course, would be to learn to generate that pizaz from within… but it’s all about how you feel, isn’t it? Right now… I have to admit that pillar-box red is looking really tempting again!!

Good Lord! Hair grows. it's why we have to get it cut...... hair is the ONE thing on our bodies we can mess up any way we want and it doesn't matter because it GROWS OUT if you don't like it :D

if red makes you happy when you look in the mirror go red, or blue, or green.......well green might be pushing it a bit too far......

i've had hair the same length for about 20 years. and i dont' cut it. LOLOL
it's just past my shoulders!!!! and it just consistently breaks off. even my bangs! i swear!!!! LOLOL i have had bangs that i haven't cut in 20 years LOLOLOLOL
i want my hair to grow long long long... like rapunzel! hehehehehe so i can swing myself out of my tower LOL but - it does grow. it just also breaks off all by itself as if its self-cutting hair LOLOLOL
thank goodness it doesn't break off at the roots. that all i'll say! LOLOLOLOL
Oh my goodness... I wish mine was self-cutting - mine grows out ever 3 weeks or so. I've grown it long long from short 3 times over. Insane stuff!! I love how your bangs are self cutting too... that's just cool!! E x
I say "YES!" to bright red hair. :) I am biased though; I love red hair and choose it often. Brunette at the moment though. The grey hairs popping through will scream at me to paint over them soon enough.

haha! howdy @eveningart! I didn't know you had "super powers" and especially "nutty" super powers sound particularly important and I think the world needs those now, so of course if bringing your brightness back can bring back your super powers then it's a big YES from me as well! lol.

once upon a time ago i was an auburn.. well still am except some of it is gray
I'm an Auburn too!!!! I think the box calls it "cinnaberry" though.

oh my ... well... I've not had to use the box. Someone did dare to suggest once that I add a rinse to get rid of the gray. My response was, "it's mine, I bloody earned it!" ... never mentioned again by that person.
Woop! That's the perfect response. My lovely mum went full-on grey at 17. She looked amazing and absolutely rocked that look all the way through!
the mother of my god-children had black hair but was going gray when i met her when we were 15. I'm told my paternal grandmother was snow white at 30

I actually love my sparkly greys too!!!! They shimmer (probably due to damage or something hahahhaa) but they honestly are super cool!!!
I have dark hair and almost black eyes.... So any time I can get some lightness framing my face is a good thing! (I think)

I'm at the awkward stage of growing out a buz cut, with golden mouse and a touch of natural silver highlights. Now there is a challenge for the ego.
I have found myself in a bit of a ditch, I think the do followed me in rather than I reset my mood to match my tragic mop. But I do believe reviving the do can do wonders for transforming from my moping self into at least a semblance of where I am hoping to arrive at.
I say rock that red if it feels right. If maintaining the red feels like a chore, I'm sure if anyone can make mouse awesome it's you.
