ULOG #17: Our Dear Boy Miggy

in #ulog6 years ago

Mommy, mommy, I am sick. Call the doctor very quick.

I often hear those lines from my childhood friends and classmates during preschool years whenever we play together. The doctor's (also a playmate of ours) role then would fix the tangled kids into a perfect circle. Once it has been arranged, the players of the game would then run away from the "doctor".

This seem to have been a fun and trivial game, but in reality, no one wants to be sick. Well, often times I do feel the need to be sick to avoid toxic people at work.

When you are sick, you get annoyed easily, irritated as well, and you do not seem to be fond of the people around you.

Well, why am I sharing this? I was actually thinking of not to because it is a little bit personal for me. But anyway, since my blog is a personal blog, I would just leave tiny bits of what I had been through awhile ago.

Our dear boy Miggy has been sick since last Saturday. Miggy is a three month old cousin who is the son of one of the youngest sibling of my father @alfredotongci.

We only found out about yesterday afternoon when Miggy's dad, Uncle Michael called. At first, I never thought it would be that serious. I was actually pissed off before we arrived at our baby boy's room at Maria Reyna Hospital. I have thought that we would be going out because we were suppose to watch Jurrasic World.

Anyway, blood is thicker than water right? Miggy being the blood and the want to watch that movie as the water. And I really love this adorable child.

Inside the hospital room was Miggy's Mom (Aunt Abby), Uncle Michael, Aunt Abby's Mom, Aunt Abby's Sister, and thr boyfriend of Miggy's Aunt. Okay, I know I am giving names in a very confusing manner but just bear with it though.

By the way, the other bottled that you could see are just reserves.

Few minutes on playing with Miggy and trying to make him feel at ease, Uncle Michale and Auntie Abby shared to us what happened.

They gave their apologies for not coming to church last Sunday with us because Miggy at that time already had blisters on his foot. Both of the parents were monitoring our baby boy because he has been having fever.

At first, they just thought that it was a bite from an ant until it became bigger. The moment then that they realized that the baby was having a seizure, which was explained by the doctor to them, they hurriedly went to the Emergency Room of Maria Reyna Hospital which was few blocks away from the apartment they were living.

You can see that his right foot was swollen. Few hours ago though, it was more swollen. Thank goodness the pediatrician prescribed them a topical anti-bacterial.

Anyway, to continue with the story.
Miggy was then checked by the doctor and then endorsed to another specialist and neurologist. The very reason why the case was also endorsed to a neurologist for them to check whether it has affected the baby's brain.

They conducted different tests on Miggy. It was found out that there was a bacteria on his blood sample. I am sorry though because I am not that good in explaining things using medical terms.

Tomorrow, he will have lumbar puncture or spinal tap. As how the doctor explained it to us, the fluid surrounding the spinal cord of our baby would be withdrawn through a needle. After which, it would thrn be examined in a laboratory.

Before leaving the hospital, my father requested for me to pray for our baby boy. I felt the urge to pray for him as well so I did not hesitated to say yes.

Hopefully, in the morning, the result that would be taken after the lumbar puncture would be in favor of ours. It has been one of the hardest days for Uncle Michael and Aunt Abby as Uncle Michael recently had an operation.

I would appreciate it if you also pray for our baby Miggy and his family as well. I do not think I would be able to sleep soundly few moments from now.

Love,
