My First Ulog Entry: Trapped in the Rain and a Stop by at the Mall
Permit me to begin my first #Ulog entry by thanking @surpassinggoogle, one of the finest Steemians on this platform, for bringing colour and fun to the Steemit blockchain. I recall that he was one of the first Steemians who welcomed me to Steemit.
What is a Ulog?
I have read a few Ulog posts, including the original post pioneering Ulogs, and the summary of all is that Ulog is about YOU, celebrating your own self; becoming a hero in your own daily life. Ulog is about caving a celebrity out of the tree of your life by writing about YOU. Ulog says that, "you've celebrated others enough; now, it's time to celebrate yourself, YOU.
A Visit to My Grandmother
I took a day leave from work today to visit my grandmother whom I had not seen for a while now. I finally saw her and we had a fantastic time together. I sat at her feet and listened to all her old stories, stories she had always told me from my childhood years.
When I was about to leave, I told Mama (that is the name I call my grandmother) to pose for a selfie but she declined. Mama does not like seeing the wrinkles on her face, I know. She also holds a traditional belief that the camera lens shortens one's life span. Sound superstitious right?
Trapped in the Rain
It was windy and raining heavily when I alighted at the bus terminal a few kilometers away from home. Unfortunately, I was not holding an umbrella, so I briskly climbed to the top of the terminal to shield myself from the fang of the rain. I also wanted to catch the scent of the cold wind which escorted the ruthless rain.
While I stood on the elevated space, wishing I had wings like a bird, I brought out my phone and took the photograph you now see. The photograph captures a fine moment: the stretch of the busy road, a bus stopping down below, and a fine gentleman running from the whips of the rain.
A Stop by the Mall
It was still drizzling when I climbed down the terminal. I walked to a nearby shopping mall to buy some beverages and bread. Having grabbed my shopping cart, I took a short walk round the mall to pick the items I wanted. Afterwards, I went sightseeing before approaching the cashiers for payment.
While I was sightseeing, I went to the book stand where I saw the fine books displayed in the background. Particularly, I picked interest in the red book titled Nigeria's Decade of Blood, 1980-2002.
When I picked the book up, I realized that it was authored by Jan Harm Boer. A look at the book's synopsis suggests that it tells the story of the tension between the Christians and the Muslims living in Nigeria. I ended up not buying the book because I was not carrying sufficient money to pay for it. However, I hope to return to the mall soon to pick it up. At last, I paid the cashiers and left the mall with the confidence that I had had a great day.
This is my #Ulog story for today. Thanks for your reading time.
He who stands out is he who stands alone. I just made that up. Hi gandhibaba :-D
I am good @brotherdave. I hope your furniture work and your pets are fine? Hehehe
Glad you had a great time with your grandmother. Sorry I haven't stopped by in a few days. It's been an interesting week to say the least.
Certainly I know you've been busy. Thanks for your sweet comment. I have been upvoting and following your works and I can see that you are doing quite fine. Full STEEM ahead.
Im hanging in there :D Sorry I missed your contest looks like it was a huge success.
Yes it was, although the falling of SBD gave some setbacks. I managed to scale through.
