#ulog 12: Change Your Thinking and Change Your Life

According to the famous writer, leader and “EQUIP” CEO, John C. Maxwell,

“If you are willing to change your thinking, you can change your feeling. If you change your feeling, you can change your actions. And changing your actions – based on good thinking – can change your life.”

Proverbs 23:7a “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”

Let us know some important things about changing our thinking in life.

1. Understanding the Value of Good thinking.

John C. Maxwell suggested several reasons why good thinking is so valuable:

• Good thinking creates the Foundation for good results.
• Good thinking increases your Potential.
• Good thinking produces more good thinking if you make it a habit.

2. Realize the Impact of changed Thinking.

Why should we changed our thinking? Because it is the difference that will make all the difference in your life! Good thinking can do many things for you: solve problems, create opportunities and lift you above the crowd. It can take you to a whole new level – personally and professionally. It really can change your life. Many people have talked about changing the world, but very few think about changing themselves.

Consider some things need to know about changing our thinking:

• Changed thinking is not automatic, it is in a process.
• Changed thinking is difficult.
• Changed thinking is worth the investment.
• Changed thinking is the best gift you can give to yourself and to others.

When you make the right changes to your thinking, you will experience the ripple effect. Right thinking changes your feelings, which changes your actions, which ultimately has the potential to change your life.

Remember this progression:

• Changing your thinking changes your belief.
• Changing your belief changes your expectations.
• Changes your expectations changes your attitude.
• Changes your attitude changes your behavior.
• Changes your behavior changes your performance.
• Changes your performance changes your life.

3. Mater the Process of Intentional Thinking.

Becoming a good thinker isn’t necessarily complicated but it does require discipline.

Here are some suggested process for discovering and developing good thoughts that will impact your future.

• Find a place to think your thoughts.
• Find a place to evaluate your thoughts.
• Find a place to stretch your thoughts by sharing then with other good thinkers.
• Find a place to put thoughts into action.

It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, educate or uneducated, in a good health or not and no matter what your circumstances, you can learn to be a good thinker and the only requirements is to be willing to engage in the process daily.

4. Acquire the Wisdom of Big-Picture Thinking.

Big-picture thinkers are never satisfied with what they already know, instead they look for opportunity to learn. They keep on asking and listening to the answers. They are good listeners.

Why should we become a big-picture thinker?

• Big-picture thinking allows you to lead.
• Big-picture thinking keeps you on target.
• Big-picture thinking promotes teamwork.
• Big-picture thinking allows you to see what others see.
• Big-picture thinking keeps you from being caught up in the mundane.
• Big-picture thinking helps you navigate uncharted territory.
