Ulog 002 : celebrating Independence Day, June 12th, 2018

in #ulog6 years ago (edited)

The @walkofhope Family was told last week that Marlon/ @flabbergast-art will be opening the Independence Day ceremony in Bayawan City on June 12th, this was held yesterday.

It's a national holiday all over the country, so people were either out attending functions/celebrations, some like us were home and watching the celebrations on tv or some were out holding a rally not recognizing this as a holiday as such. Or perhaps, the rest can't just be bothered and considered it like an ordinary day.

In commemoration:

June 12th, 1898

Though it wasn't recognized by Spain and the US at that time, the Philippines' declaration of independence from the Spanish rule was finalized after the 1898 Treaty of Paris, where Spain surrendered the country to America. Being independent from Spain was something only to be followed by another ruler was another. It's during these times where national heroes were born, who fought for our country's independence. If under tyranny.

The thing was, Spanish served the country in a platter to America, for a price. Not too long after, Filipinos started to revolt against the US in 1899, finally gaining independence from the US in 1946. The Japanese too had a stint in the Philippines during the war.

Anyway, in this modern time and age, I look around and wonder, is the Philippines totally independent? Not just from the US but also from our neighbouring nations? Can the country have a bit of respite and to fully savour a moment of independence?

The Philippines is rich and beautiful, who else wants it that we don't know of? The country's fighter boat (if one call's it that) can't barely stand on water, let alone fight a supreme power. They don't pick their own size!

They don't pick their own size!

It is a matter of strategy, It is about winning to an enemy who is bigger than us by not going to war in military forces but in diplomacy!

Of course..that's what Digong is good at. Kulelat man tayo ng military manpower din😁😉
