ULOG #3: TODAY WAS REALLY STRESSFUL! GUESS WHAT HAPPENED

in #ulog6 years ago

Hello uloggers! Welcome to my today's ulog. I will be narrating how my day went and what makes it stressful.

In Nigeria here after weaning your baby at one year, many women goes into baby's formula which is costly...those that are wealthy can afford it but some few of them which can't afford follow suit and its to their own expense. While some wise woman prepare 'pap" for their babies, we call it "ogi" or "akamu" here. It's best to prepare it yourself instead of buying.

Today I prepare pap for my baby, it's preparation might seen easy but it's stressful.

Steps I Took In Preparing the Pap.

1. Most people use only corn but I used corn, millet and guinea corn, i used the three because of it's nutrictional benefits.images (12).jpg

First, soak the corn, all the three ingredient in water for 3 days. Remember during this period you have to change the water daily; On the fourth day, wash it thoroughly and off to the local mill or you can use heavy duty blender for this purpose.

2. Use a chiffon cloth, wrap it over a big bowl and tie up. Sieve the blended content, rising with water as necessary until you are left only the chaff.

3. When you are done, take off the chiffon cloth and set the mixture of akamu together with water aside to sieve for at 3 hours, when you notice that the water is clear, pour off gently the clear water and pour the rest of the mixture in a muslon bag, tie it and keep it in a way the water will flow out gradually.

4. When you notice that the water has drained off, tie the bag tighter and allow the rest of the water to drain out. If there is no more water, then take the akamu out from the bag , cut into chunks then put into plastics plates and refrigerate till you want to use it.

How To Prepare the Pap for Consumption.

1. Boil the water ....make sure that the water is on a boiling temperature.

2. Put small amount of pap into a plate, add small cold water and stir....

3. Pour the boiling water in the plate and stir while adding the boiled water.

4. The pap is ready to consume.
