Snowed Under

in #ulog5 years ago

So, February happened apparently. Somewhere in there I turned 40. We're putting off celebrating, because I haven't felt at all like it, although if the past performance predicts future results I'll probably forget to ever do it.

That lynx is pretty much me - I'm just going to hide here under the snow until it goes away. February was the fourth-largest recorded snowfall for any month in recorded history, and we already have 3+ inches in March, so that's going to be a while. The plow pile in the center of our cul-de-sac looks like it's about twelve feet high.

This has been a particularly bad winter in terms of actually getting anything done, but reasonably good about recognizing that and getting through it without hitting the disastrous despair point that's a common part of it. I'm just head-down and getting through it. I've had a few moments of being able to do a few things, but mostly it's just getting through and recognizing that things will get better when it gets warmer.

I got a couple of days of effort in mid-February and used it to work towards not having to do this again next year. I have a tentative plan, but didn't quite get to implementation. So that's kind of my next thing when a little more wherewithal comes, hopefully within the next couple of weeks.

Hope you all defrost soon. Sounds like hibernation wouldn't be a bad idea for you.
We've had the opposite extremes of getting very little done because it's too hot.

You should move to Britain - we've just had the warmest February on record. It's been T shirt weather some days.

And the politics is pretty hillarious these days too.

Big snows are a pain, I am hoping we do not get many more. Got spoiled in the last couple of winters with it taking three or four small snows to make a plowable amount. On the good side we have not had the intense cold snaps we generally get. I think the coldest I saw this winter was only about minus fourteen. We generally have a couple of weeks where the temps would be in the minus twenties, so a good winter on that count.

It is often hard to be motivated during the winter months especially if you are not a winter person, but the funny thing is, the equatorial regions also seem to go through the same slumps the winter people do, so I guess it is not really the cold, and likely something to do with the distance from the sun or something. At least it is almost over.

Not surprised as I have begun to get photos of a ski trip I should have been in but life happened. The amount of snow seen is incredible! Maybe some skiing can cheer you up!
